Winter

That should be fine.

Malakai

I’ll see you soon, darling.

Closing out our message thread, I went to my web browser and searched for restaurants near me. Even though I had lived in the area for most of my life, I wanted to take Winter somewhere new. Somewhere neither of us had been before. As I scrolled through the different places, I found one that looked like a quaint little Thai spot that was tucked away from the typical foot traffic in town.

It was perfect.

I pulled up in front of Winter’s house at seven o’clock sharp. As I put the car in park and climbed out, I watched as the front door opened and she stepped out. Time was suspended and I was momentarily frozen in place as I took in her ethereal appearance. She had on a light gray dress that looked to be made of silk. It hugged her curves, stopping just in the middle of her thighs. Her dark hair was pinned away from her face and fell in soft waves to the center of her back.

My heart was in my throat and my chest was simultaneously constricting as I took in the sight of her. She was something I would never grow tired of looking at. I forced myself out of the trance I was caught in and walked over to the passenger side to open the door for her.

“Hi,” Winter said softly with a small smile as she approached me. With her black, strappy heels, she was a little taller, but she still had to tilt her head back to look up at me.

“Hi, darling.”

I pulled open the door for her and she slid inside the car. Her eyes were tender, yet there was a touch of nervousness as she glanced up at me as I went to shut the door. “I hope what I’m wearing is okay? You didn’t say where we were going.”

A grin pulled on my lips. “You look absolutely breathtaking, Winter. You’re perfect.”

“But for where we’re going?”

I cocked my head. “For anywhere we could possibly go.”

A wave of emotion passed through her green irises and I gently closed the door without another word. My heart had settled back in my chest as I walked around the back of the car. My cock, on the other hand, was swelling in my pants. That dress she had on… I wanted to take her back inside the house and forget about dinner entirely.

Ignoring the urge I had, I got into the car behind the steering wheel and promptly put the car in reverse. If I didn’t get us moving as soon as possible, we definitely wouldn’t be getting anywhere tonight. The thought of giving her any type of space or taking things slow felt absurd with her in such close proximity to me. She had a way of muddling every rational thought I could possibly possess.

I would never say I was an irrational person, I just leaned more on the edge of impulsiveness when it came to some decisions.

“You surprise me,” Winter said suddenly as I pulled the car out onto her road.

I glanced over at her with an eyebrow raised. “Why is that?”

“After all these years, you still remember the code to get onto my family’s property.”

I looked at the road and back to her. “If your parents were smart, they would have changed it many years ago.”

“How did you remember it?" she questioned me with her voice soft and gentle. There was something lingering beneath the surface of her words, yet I couldn’t quite figure out what it was.

“I would never forget it,” I admitted with nothing but honesty. “It’s the date of your birthday but backward.”

Winter fell silent but her gaze lingered on the side of my face. I couldn’t allow myself to look at her again, not with the energy that was buzzing in the air between us. There was a heaviness, thick with emotion, yet there was electricity and the molecules in the space were literally electric.

She had no idea just how much I would never forget.

Silence slid around us and I waited for Winter to say something. I chanced a glance in her direction and saw the vacantness in her eyes as she stared through the windshield.

Reaching out to her, I grabbed her hand with my own and gave it a small squeeze. Her skin was warm against mine and she abruptly whipped her head to the side. Her gaze collided with mine.

“Where did you go?”

She stared at me for a moment and I alternated between looking at her and the road in front of me. “It doesn’t matter.”
