Winter clawed at my back as I thrust into her, harder and harder as I tasted her flesh beneath me. I trailed my lips across the column of her throat, nipping at her skin before making my way to her jawline. A moan escaped her and I swallowed her sounds as my mouth crushed against hers once again.

She was greedy, taking everything she wanted, and I wanted to give her every piece of me. Whatever she wanted, it was hers. She could have the last breath from my lungs and I would die a happy man.

Sliding my hands down her thighs, I parted them and pinned her against the mattress as I positioned myself on my knees. Lifting her legs, I flattened them against my body and she hooked her ankles behind my neck. She stared up at me, lust and need swirling in her green irises. From this angle, I had the perfect view of every inch of her skin. Her chest rose and fell in rapid succession with every shallow breath she took.

“You’re fucking breathtaking, Winter,” I breathed, my voice barely audible. It wasn’t often that I swore, but in moments like this, I couldn’t help myself.

Her lips parted and she moaned again as I lifted her hips and slid deep inside her. Wrapping my arms around her thighs, I held her legs against my body and began to thrust in and out of her. Her hands were fisting the sheets, her breasts bouncing with every movement.

“Please don’t stop,” she moaned, twisting the sheets in her hands.

Holding her legs with one arm, I reached for her hand and pulled it away from the sheet. I moved it down her torso until her fingers were pressed between us.

“Touch yourself, darling,” I murmured as I shifted my hips again. “I want to watch you play with that pretty pussy while I’m deep inside you.”

Her gaze was trained on mine as she began to move her fingers across her clit. I watched her as I slowly began to move inside her. My heart pounded inside my chest. Her breaths were growing more ragged as she rolled her fingers over her clit, over and over. Her pussy was clenching me tighter as I kept thrusting into her.

“That’s it, darling,” I growled as my fingers dug into the flesh of her thighs. My hips began to piston faster and the entire bed was groaning from the force of our movements. I pounded harder into her. “Make yourself come all over my cock.”

“Harder,” she moaned as her eyes began to roll back into her head. She was so tight around me, pushing me closer to the edge. “Don’t stop.”

The warmth was rapidly building in the pit of my stomach, spilling into my veins. It spread through my body like wildfire. My balls constricted against my body. I drove into her harder and harder, deeper and deeper with each thrust until she was a mess of moans. She cried out as her fingers brushed across her clit once more, sending her free falling into the abyss of ecstasy.

She shattered around me, and that was all it took to send me falling with her. I thrust into her once more, my fingers bruising her thighs. My face contorted, my eyes slamming shut as my orgasm tore through my body with such force, it was literally mind-blowing. Stars consumed my vision as I spilled my cum inside her.

We rode the waves of euphoria together and I slowly pulled out of her in a daze. Winter was breathless as she watched me disappear from the room for a brief moment before returning with a washcloth. I carefully cleaned her up, my body still on fire from the inferno that constantly burned between us.

I discarded the washcloth on the floor and climbed back onto the bed with her, pulling her flush against my body as I held her tightly. Burying my face in her hair, I breathed her scent in deeply. Winter yawned as she relaxed against me, our skin melting together.

“Sleep, darling,” I murmured as my own eyelids fell shut. “I’ll be here when you wake.”

The sound of her steady breathing settled my soul. Feeling her in my arms was all I ever needed. I held her tighter as sleep began to pull me under, deep into the depths where she still lingered in my dreams. Winter Reign consumed my every thought. Awake or asleep, she was all I ever saw.

And now that I had her, I would never let her go.

CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

WINTER

Kai’s breathing was slow and even and it warmed my skin as it fanned across my neck. His arm was heavy, wrapped tightly around my waist. I slowly turned within his grasp to face him. He stirred slightly, but he didn’t wake up. His expression was so soft, so relaxed. It made him appear younger and innocent. Like the years and the life he’d experienced had never hardened him. There wasn’t a single line of torment written across his face.

A soft smile pulled on my lips, but it instantly vanished as I replayed the evening in my head. The words his father had spoken to me… I couldn’t escape them no matter how hard I tried to force them from my memory.

“You need to walk away from him. You are not helping his golf career and quite frankly, he belongs with someone of higher status than a Reign.”

“I’m not asking you, Winter. I am telling you.”

“You will walk away from my son and you will not look back. If you do not go on your own accord, I will have it arranged.”

A shiver ran down my spine and I felt uncomfortable in my own skin. I didn’t know what he meant by his threat, but I had no intentions of ever wanting to know. Winston Barclay had power and money, along with unlimited resources. It was a deadly combination and it wasn’t one I wanted to explore.

I didn’t want to walk away from Kai, but I couldn’t help but wonder if I should. I had no idea whether or not his father would follow through with his threat. He said he would have it arranged if I did not go on my own. What could that possibly mean? And what could it mean for either of us if I didn’t listen to him?

I was afraid of what he would do to me, but more importantly, I was petrified of what he would do to Kai. I knew Kai was older and bigger now. He could hold his own against his father, but in reality, that didn’t mean anything. His father could easily pay someone to do whatever he wanted them to do.

Tears pricked my eyes as I stared at how devastatingly beautiful Malakai Barclay was. My heart constricted as I trailed over the perfectly sculpted planes of his face. He was truly a work of art. One I could stare at for hours upon hours, I’d never grow old of how he looked.

There was no real option for me. I could stay and jeopardize both of our lives, or I could leave. Leaving was the sure solution. It was the safest one. And I was more concerned with preserving Kai’s life than preserving my heart.
