"You were probably right." I laughed. "I would have tried to talk you out of it."

"Friends?" A smile spread across my face as I nodded.

"Well," Bri said, bursting through one of the bathroom stall doors. "Isn't this mushy shit sweet?" She stuck a finger in her mouth, pretending to gag.

"Why are you hiding in here?" I scowled. She had to have been hiding because there were no feet under any of the stalls when I sat on the floor.

"I came in here to escape the Rally Girls," she said. "But I stayed and hid because she was crying." She nodded toward Alyssa. "I'm not really good with emotional people." She curled her lip like emotions disgusted her, and I almost laughed. "No offense, but it kind of creeps me out."

"None taken." Alyssa chuckled, shrugging her shoulders.

"Why are you hiding from the Rally Girls?" I said, pushing to my feet and dusting myself off.

"Because they are too much." She shrugged. "They're loud and obnoxious." Her gaze flicked to Alyssa. "No, offense." We both knew she was right. "And everyone wants to be my friend when they find out I'm Jay's sister, and I don't really like people." Bri and I were a lot alike, minus the whole drug thing.

"Well, I don't want to be your friend," I said dryly. Her questioning eyes flicked to Alyssa.

"Yeah, me either. Jay's not my type."

We all laughed.

"Awesome." She smiled. "Are you done crying and shit?" Alyssa nodded, twisting to the sink, flicking the water on, and splashing her face with the cold water.

"We should get a drink before your brother finds us. He's ready to go home."

I pushed the door open to find Jayden standing on the other side. Shit...

"You could have texted," Jayden said dryly, "to tell me Bri was with you." I shrugged. "Let's go."

The long drive back to Jayden's was mostly quiet until Bri broke the silence.

"Is KJ staying at the house tonight," Bri leaned her head against the window.

"Bri," Jayden said his tone stern. "Leave KJ alone."

"I don't know what you're talking about." Bri laughed, and I twisted to peer out the window so Jayden didn't see me smile.

"Fuck," Jayden growled, pulling into the driveway. My head snapped up to follow Jayden's line of sight. A white SUV was parked in the driveway. Bri pulled herself forward, leaning through the two bucket seats on the center console.

"Who is that?" I asked. Jayden threw the truck in park behind the SUV. "Jayden?"

"It's our parents." Bri sighed. Jayden and Bri's gaze locked, and something unspoken passed between them. Something I wasn't in on.

JAYDEN

My jaw flexedas my gaze locked on my parent's white SUV. This was the last thing I wanted to deal with right now. Not only was Bri with me but also Sadie, and it didn't matter who Sadie was; they wouldn't like her. It didn't matter how clean Bri was; they wouldn't give her another chance.

"Do you want me to take Sadie back to the team house?" Bri asked, leaning through the two bucket seats. I shook my head. I didn't want Sadie sleeping at the team house without me. "We could go to KJ's."

"No," I growled. Sucking in a deep breath, I blew it out slowly as my gaze flicked to Sadie. Sadie was staying with me. I still had a few months of freedom left before I returned home, and Sadie was part of that freedom, and my parents would have to get over it. "You ready to meet my parents?" Surprisingly she didn't seem nervous, but if she knew my parents, she would be. Bri and I were both nervous because we knew what we were about to walk into.

Sadie and Bri followed me to the front door, but the door flew open before I could unlock it. My mother was standing on the opposite side, dressed immaculately as always. Her dark hair was pulled back neatly; her make-up was fresh like she'd just applied it, and like always, she was covered in ten pounds of gold jewelry.

"Jay," she muttered, annoyance laced in her tone. "Where have you been, and why aren't you answering your phone?" She hadn't noticed the girls behind me yet. She stepped back, giving me room to walk through the doorway.

"I was out," I said dryly, stepping through the entrance.
