"Hey, Mom." Bri smiled. My mother’s eyes cut to Bri, narrowing in disgust.

"What is she doing here?" My mother hissed.

She was angry because Bri was no longer a part of our family, they'd disowned her, but I didn't. She was my sister; I couldn't abandon her like they did. I knew her anger would subside when she noticed Sadie, and as if on cue, her gaze flicked over to Sadie.

"Who is she?" She nodded her head toward Sadie.

"She's a friend of mine." Bri smirked, trying to cover for me.

"Wonderful." My mother groaned. "A house full of druggies."

"She's not Bri's friend," I corrected. "She's my friend, and she lives here."

"Oh." My mother huffed out a sarcastic laugh. "Well, she'll need to leave. We will be taking the third bedroom for a few days."

"She doesn't sleep in the third bedroom," I said. "She sleeps in my bedroom." My mother's eyes widened on me before narrowing on Sadie.

"Another whore, Jayden? Really?" My jaw clenched as my fist balled at my side.

"That's enough," my father barked from the living room as he strolled toward the door. "Leave the girl alone." My mother rolled her deep brown eyes, shrugging her thin shoulders. My mother was always so well put together. Her light brown hair was pulled neatly back into a low ponytail and her expensive clothes didn't have a wrinkle in them even after hours of travel.

"Dad." Bri nodded in greeting.

"Bri," my father said, "you look well. I assume you're clean." Bri nodded.

"I'm Gregory De Luca," my father said, placing a hand over the chest of his dark suit. His salt and pepper hair had a little more salt than the last time I'd seen him. "Jayden's father." Sadie forced a smile but didn't say anything. This was probably overwhelming for her. "This is my wife, Linda De Luca, Jayden's mother."

"What are you guys doing here?" I asked.

"The season is almost over, son," my father smiled. "We came to check on you, and tomorrow if you're free, I would like to chat."

"Fine, but we're done for tonight. We're going to bed." I tangled my fingers with Sadie and stormed toward my room, dragging her behind me.

"I'm sorry about that," I whispered once we were down the hall and out of earshot. "My mother is—" I pushed the bedroom door open and froze.

"Jay," Bella squealed, her dark eyes lighting up as she bounced toward me. "You're ho—" Her words trailed off as her gaze flicked down to where I held Sadie's hand. "Who are you?"

Sadie's gaze flicked from Bella to me. "Who is she?" Sadie hissed, not bothering to entertain Bella's question.

"I'm his fiancé." Bella smirked, flipping her straight dark hair over her narrow shoulder before holding out her hand. My eyes went wide as my gaze landed on the 8-carat princess-cut diamond sparkling on her thin ring finger.

"Fiancé!” Sadie scowled, drawing out the word. Bella was the one thing I'd kept from Sadie. She was the one thing I didn't want to explain to her, but it looked like I didn't have a choice now, and I had no idea how Sadie would take the information. Judging by the flames shooting from her eyes, I would say not great. "You have a fucking fiancé?"

SADIE

What the actual fuck?

He was engaged...

To her...

I shouldn't be surprised. She was stunning, tall, thin, with long tanned legs, perfectly styled dark hair, deep brown eyes, and a gigantic pair of fake boobs.

Twisting away from Jayden, I stormed out of the room, down the hall, and out the front door before he had time to process what was happening.

I was sure his mother would be happy I was gone.
