Scarlett

Gray carriesme to the bathroom when he’s sure the coast is clear, helping me clean off as he keeps a smile plastered on his face. “Are you okay?” I ask as he places me down on the vanity.

Somehow, his grin grows as he nods. “That was the hottest fucking sex of my life,” he admits, and I shiver.

“Watching you both together… Fuck, it’s unreal.”

He steps between my thighs and trails his calloused fingers over my skin. “Watching you watch me and feeling your core clench around my cock in response is indescribable, but definitely my new favorite thing.”

I press my lips to his, and he instantly takes control, taking my every breath in the slowest, most tantalizing way.

“I love you.” He rears back, eyes wide, and I say it again, “I. Love. You.”

I mean it, with every fiber of my being; it’s all-consuming and he needs to hear it. His hand lifts to my cheek. “You do?”

Nodding, I raise my hands to his shoulders. “I wanted to say it in there, but I didn’t want you to think it was because I was in a sex-induced haze. I want you to know I mean it.”

Our lips crash together, harsher this time as we take and give to each other effortlessly.

“I fucking love you, Scarlett. The way you effortlessly fell into sync with us, or us with you, who the hell knows at this stage, but it only proves this is meant to be.”

Gray wraps his arms around me, pinning me to his chest, and I bask in his warmth, smiling like a fool as my heart swells.

“There’s something I want to do,” I breathe, needing to get my thoughts out to someone. He leans back, and I force my eyes open to see a knowing smile on his face.

“Let’s get dressed and then I’ll help you.”

“You don’t even know what it is yet,” I reply, eyebrows raised as I let him lower me to the ground. We both clean off as quickly as possible, but he doesn’t respond to me until we both have towels wrapped around us.

“Of course I do.” I cock a brow at him as we step out into the hallway and he leads me down the hall. He slows at Axel’s door, and I’m shocked to see him passed out on top of the sheets. Wordlessly, Gray closes the door and ushers me inside his room instead.

My duffel bag is now in the corner of his room since Emily has taken mine, and I quickly get dressed. This guy thinks he has a clue as to what’s going on in my mind, but he has no idea. Opting for my combat pants, black vest top, and combat boots, I tie my hair in a slick ponytail before pulling on my leather jacket.

Nervous, I turn to Gray to find him dressed in his usual jeans, tee, and cut, putting his gun into the holster at his waist.

“I think Shift is in the kitchen with Emily.”

My eyebrows knit as I still, staring at him in confusion. “Okay?”

“That’s who you want to speak to, right?” The longer I stare, the wider his smirk goes. He cuts the distance between us, one hand falling to my waist as the other lifts to my chin, propping my face back a little as he stares into my eyes. “What you want to do is find Shift, hound him for the details on the woman Axel told us about, and get ready to wreak havoc at his side. Because you know as well as I do that Axel’s not going to hand that information over.”

Well, fuck.

“How…”

He presses a kiss to both corners of my mouth before looking deep into my eyes. “I know you, Scarlett. And you operate just like we do. If I’m thinking it, I know you’re thinking it even harder.”

I don’t know how he manages to blow me away again and again, but here I am once more, floored by his understanding of me.

“That bitch needs to pay, and he needs to see that he’s not in this alone,” I state, trying to swallow past the lump in my throat.

“And he will. Now, let’s go.”

I reach for Gray’s hand, squeezing his fingers with my own as we head to the kitchen. Shift and Emily are sitting side by side at the table, sipping hot cocoa from big mugs as they smile at each other. Clearing my throat, I startle their little stare off, making Emily blush as Shift glares at the interruption before he plasters on a tight smile.

I glance at Gray from the corner of my eye, expecting a reaction from him, but it seems to go over his head as he moves to take a seat at the table. Consumed with anticipation, I can’t sit still, instead, I brace my palms on the end of the table and turn my attention straight to Shift.
