He sits up in his seat, confusion flickering across his face as I sense Emily leaning back in her spot. “I need something from you.”

“Whatever you need, Scarlett. I told you that,” he says.

“I need the woman’s address that you gave to Axel.”

Surprise widens his eyes as he instantly shakes his head. “I can’t do that.”

Wow. This is going to be harder than I thought.

“Let me rephrase. Give me the address of the woman you gave to Axel.”

His nose scrunches as he looks at his brother before coming back to me. “I’m sorry, Scarlett, I can’t.”

“I know you can, I know you have it. So it’s not a case ofcan't;it's a case ofwon’t. Why?”

Frustration vibrates through my veins instantly. The last thing I need right now is someone making this harder than it needs to be.

“Because Axel made me promise to keep this between the two of us. It’s his decision if you two know. Ifhewants you to have the address, thenhecan be the one to give it to you.”

Shit.

I wasn’t expecting this to be a loyalty thing.

“This is for Axel, Shift.” The soft smile he offers me in response tells me that means nothing to him and he stands by his words. Fucker. Admittedly, this is exactly the level of loyalty and care Axel deserves from his family, but these are different circumstances. “I can do this the hard way too. I was hoping to avoid it, but this is important to me.Heis important to me.”

He glances from me to Gray, but this time, I look to his brother as well. He shrugs. “She’s the boss, big bro. I’m just here for the entertainment of watching her put you in your place.”

I almost smile in appreciation, but I manage to hold it back. Emily remains quiet in her seat, nervously nibbling on her bottom lip as she places her mug down on the table and Shift does the same.

“There is no hard way here, Scar. There’s just all of us respecting Axel’s privacy,” he says like he’s trying to calm me down, but there was no stopping the inevitable once he denied me.

“I’m really sorry about this, Shift,” I offer, smiling weakly at him as his chair scrapes across the floor in an attempt to put some distance between us. He doesn’t get very far though as I reach for the collar of his tee and yank him back toward me.

He doesn’t make a move to get me off him though. “You’re not going to hurt me, Scar, just like I’m not going to hurt you.”

“You’re hurting me by not giving me what I need. The second he wakes up, I want to go take him, don’t spoil that. He’s going to go on his own otherwise, just like he has every other time, but it’s different now.”

My chest heaves as the truth slips from my lips, but I can tell by the stricken look in his eyes that he’s still not seeing this from my point of view. “You know you were my best friend when I had no one else in the world, right?” He nods in acknowledgment. “So you know it pains me to say that I will punch you in the face for this, right?” Shift appears to ponder over it, but the longer he doesn’t respond, the more I know he still doesn’t see it. “Kronkz,” I warn, but he shakes his head.

“You wouldn’t—Fuck.”

I slam my fist into his face, hating the grunt that falls from his lips, but he really needs to fucking see how serious this is. Blood spills from his nose, I hate it, but don’t question how far I’m willing to go.

“What the hell, Scarlett?” he hisses, still not pulling out of the hold I have on the collar of his tee.

“This is important to me. I warned you. Now, are you going to help me or do I need to show you exactly what I’m willing to do?”

His sleeping formis fucking magical. Axel, awake with a scowl, is hot, but in the stillness of his dreams, he’s intoxicating. I could watch him forever, like a creep, unabashed and addicted. My addictions are shifting seamlessly like his. I don’t want just anyone to fuck me hard and brutally, only them.

They’re mine, I’m theirs. In every way possible. The lines blurred before I even got here, and denying it now feels ridiculous.

Gray offered to wake Axel, but I left him in the kitchen with Shift and Emily. I don’t want to pull him from his sleep though, so instead I sit here, lost in him. But it’s like he can sense me or something because it’s only a few minutes before he stirs and I’m left looking like a total creeper.

Clearing my throat, I make it clear he’s not alone before I speak. “Ready to go?”

He lifts to his elbow in surprise and his gaze turns my way. When his eyes land on mine, his pupils dilate and he sighs in relief. “Do you always lurk in guys’ bedrooms, Reaper?”
