Then finally, a ghost of a smile twisted his bruised lips. “What’s the catch?”

I chuckled despite the seriousness. “Help us bring him down. Once and for all.”

Alex grew silent, and panic flared inside me. If he didn’t do this—if he remained loyal to the man he believed planned his lover’s death, we were screwed. There would be no other chance like this.

“Do you really want to have your boyfriend’s blood on your hands?” I asked, this time in a softer voice. “You love him, don’t you?”

Alex looked at me, and the words he didn’t speak shone clear in his dark eyes.

“Can you forgive yourself if you let him die?”

Alex swallowed visibly, indecision battling on his face.

“Don’t let your father win,” I whispered. Reaching out, I placed a hand on his arm. “You helped me, now let me, letus, help you.”

His gaze flickered to mine, and I gave him an encouraging smile.

“Let’s end this misery.”

“What do you want?”

A rush of excitement zapped through me.It worked. “Anything, where he goes, what he does.”

Alex fell silent again, and I glanced at my watch. Just a few minutes left.

“Don’t be scared.” I coaxed. “You’re doing the right thing.”

When he still didn’t speak and instead turned his eyes away from me, panic flared within.

“Make him talk,” Dom growled in my ear. “Now.”

Alex’s silence dragged out. Seconds ticked by. One more look at the watch made my breath hitch. We were out of time. My eyes shot to the door. Dom never told me what would happenafterten minutes. I didn’t want to stay and find out. No doubt Alex’s room was guarded. I also didn’t doubt that whoever protected him wouldn’t hesitate to take out an enemy.

I turned back to Alex, resisting the urge to shake him. “We’re out of time!” I hissed. “This is your last chance to save your boyfriend. If I get nothing to report back to Dom, you’re screwed. Your boyfriend will die, and you’ll live knowing you could have saved him!” I nearly shouted the last bit, and he visibly flinched from the painful words.

“Saturday nights,” the words were a rushed breath, as if he needed to say it fast before he had a chance to chicken out. “He goes to a… club, and he goes alone.”

“Where?”

“Somewhere in the city. The King’s Court. If you can find it, you’ll catch him without his guards.”

One more quick glance toward the door. “Why the secrecy?”

“King’s Court is a BDSM club, Kaylie,” Alex said, and it answered every question I had. I wanted to ask more, but time was up.

“I have to go,” I breathed. “Thank you. You did the right thing.”

“Save him.”

I nodded. “You have my word.” I darted across the floor and listened for noise outside the door before sliding it open. Just as I stepped out, two men and a nurse came stalking down the corridor, straight toward me.

Shit. I spun on my heels, trying not to run or make a scene, when all I wanted was to bolt.

“Hey, you!” A male voice called out. “Nurse!”

“Did you get that?” I spoke to Dom.

“Yes. Now run!”
