She gasped as I pulled her tiny shorts down and lifted her top over her head to toss it to the growing pile on the floor. “No bra?”

She grinned, giving me that little knowing wink that drove me wild, and I couldn’t fucking wait.

Moving over her, I growled onto her lips, “Are you wet for me, butterfly?”

Those sexy lips parted in a gasp before claiming mine in a kiss that gave me all the answers I needed.

She shuddered underneath me as I took her in a slow, deep stroke. Her legs wrapped around my waist, pushing me deeper and holding me there. I let her adjust, listening to her breaths and trying to catch my own. She felt too damn good. So hot and tight it nearly killed me, and we hadn’t even started.

Her hands were all over me, on my back, in my hair, driving me crazy with each touch and I couldn’t hold back. An urgency I never felt pushed me to move faster, taking her in long, deep thrusts that made her cry out each time I slammed into her. I needed more. Needed something to drive away the foreboding feeling that hid deep in me.

“Shit, Marc,” she gasped, and I grinned down at her.

“Too much?”

“It’s perfect,” she breathed. “Don’t stop.”

Oh, I had no intention of doing so. Letting the feeling consume me, I moved faster, harder, until her body shuddered and tightened, and she cried out my name. Her pleasure pushed me right off the edge with her and I let it rip through me.

It wasn’t until I collapsed next to her, that I started to feel the goddamn ache in the shoulder. She was right. I pushed it too far, but I didn’t fucking care. Coated in sweat and panting for air, I was exactly where I wanted to be. As long as she was right there with me.

“Uhh,” she began, and I rolled my head to look at her through heavy eyelids. She smiled at my dazed expression. Her hand found mine. “Not to scare you or anything but…” she paused, playing with a thumb against my skin, and something in me hitched.

“We forgot to use…” she again trailed off, and I relaxed.

“I know.”

“Are you okay with that?” She rolled over, pushing herself to sit, to stare down at me. “Are you… ready?”

I knew what she was asking. And no. I wasn’t fucking ready. I’d never be. But I didn’t want to waste time. After a brush with death, I felt it more than ever. Life was fragile. And as much as it terrified me, starting one with her was what I needed to move on.

“If you are.”

She let out a soft gasp. Then she nodded, whispering, “I want everything with you.”

I closed my eyes. Suddenly looking at her was too much. The feeling inside me was too raw.

“What was her name?” Kaylie asked, and my eyes snapped open. I didn’t need to ask who. The fact she asked now. When babies were the only thing I could think of, said it all.

I swallowed down the fresh grief that never faded. “Stella,” I whispered. “Her name was Stella.”

“A star,” Kaylie whispered. “That’s beautiful.”

I exhaled slowly through my lips, channeling the sorrow through my breath.

Everything happened fast. We were on a speeding train, and there was no way off. I couldn’t run. Couldn’t fight. I let myself fall for her, and it was my downfall.

It was ride or die, and I was all in. I just hoped we wouldn’t crash.

He took me on a drive along the coastline the next day. One of Johnny’s cars, he said. The wind in my hair and the sun shining down on us made the Bentley convertible heaven on earth. Anywhere with Marc was. But watching him drive was something I’d never tire of. Was there anything sexier than a man behind the wheel?

“You’re supposed to watch the view.”

My eyes darted from his bare arms to his face, and the twisted grin on his lips made my belly flutter.

“I am,” I purred, and he chuckled. My view was perfect. He wore a thin white shirt, the top buttons open to reveal his toned chest, and the sleeves were rolled up, giving me a perfect show of tight arm muscles and veins bulging from the heat.

I had to clasp my hands together in my lap to avoid touching him.
