Instead of a doctor in our living room, we would be upstairs enjoying each other’s bodies.

Elias walked to the sofa, and dropped to it, pulling me with him as the doctor began to inspect his shoulder as Eli, Silas, and Liam stood around the room. Their faces were stoic as Elias groaned when the doctor loosened the cloth that stopped his shoulder from bleeding.

“Good. Good…through and through, Mr. Galdur. I’ll stitch you up and prescribe some painkillers.”

“So, he is going to be okay?” I say, my voice faint.

“I don’t see why not. Believe it or not this isn't the worst I have seen him. A few weeks and he’ll be back to normal. Good as new,” he said, offering me a smile.

I looked at Elias who was staring at me, his eyes filled with wonder and amusement.

“I told Killian to carry you home,” he said, hissing lowly as the doctor started to clean the area.

“…I couldn’t leave you.”

I didn't stare at him long enough to see his reaction because my eyes immediately went to what this John person was doing; criticising his every movement as if I could do better.

Chapter Twenty-Four

ELIAS

“You drew blood. That's impressive,” I said, to the man that was tied to a chair in Eli’s club, “You must be pleased. Your employer as well.”

After I had the men carry him to the SUV, I ordered them to carry his limp body to the club. I prefer to keep these…acts away from my home and my wife.

“Fuck you,” the man said, spitting at my feet.

I laughed, humorlessly and nodded at Eli who began to walk to the tray that laid out various sizes and styles of knives.

“This is my brother, Eli. He’s young, still learning but he's…eager...and he loves knife play.”

I circled the man, watching as his hand tugged at the restraints.

I licked my lips, a small smirk now decorating my face. His fear fed my dark soul. It longed for every drop of the bitter, yet savoury essence- something it was denied since Mia's arrival.

“Unlike me, he likes to prolong people’s suffering. It’s almost…psychotic.”

I stood to the side of the wall, using my right shoulder to lean against the wall, as Eli chose one knife and began to trace the man’s face with it.

We had him soaked in the room until morning as Silas and I stood outside of the room for a few minutes contemplating if to let Eli try his hand at cracking the bastard. It wasn’t like I could give it my all, even with the pills that the doctor gave me the pain from my shoulder never dull for too long.

Never mind I loved when I held a man’s life in the palm of my head. The crying, the begging, the smell of desperation; it was intoxicating.

Eventually, we agreed, and Eli was eager, like I said. He was high on the fact that we were learning to trust him more.

The man kept a strong façade as Eli teased him with the knife but it would falter; he would falter. They all did.

That's because no one ever truly embraced death. It was always seen as something to fear and to run from even though that is what we were destined for.

People never accept it as a way of life. And in doing so, they were constantly chasing immortality; wanting to survive.

Me? I didn't.I knew the life I lived.

“Look at his hands, he is itching to crave you up, Andy,” I said, referring to the name on the fake ID he had stuffed in his pocket.

I retrieved it when I searched his person, wanting to know who the hell he was and who hired him.

I knew with every bone in my body that Alexsei was behind this. He was stupid but he had guts. I just needed this sad case to admit it.
