A shiver runs up my spine.

“Guys.”

“What is it, Vixen?” Griffyn asks.

Felix steps past me to see. “Fuck!”

“Another one? Don’t we have enough to deal with?” Griffyn whines.

Felix uses the edge of his shirt to grab it, opens the door, and brings it inside with us.

“Blaze! Aksel! We need you,” Felix shouts.

Both of them come downstairs at the same time.

“What’s going on?” Aksel asks.

Blaze’s eyes zero in on the envelope on the counter.

“This was on our front step,” Felix says.

“Have you opened it yet?” Aksel moves closer to see it.

“No, we just saw it when we walked inside,” Griffyn explains.

Aksel goes to one of the kitchen drawers and pulls out a box of gloves. He slips two on and grabs the note, ripping open the top and pulling out the note inside.

Aksel reads the note to us. “Where have you been? I’ve been waiting for my next hit.”

“What the hell? What does that even mean?” Griffyn asks.

Aksel stalks away with the note to the basement stairs. He throws the door open and goes down.

We all follow. Blaze sticks close to my side.

“Do you know what this is?” Aksel demands, voice harsh as he holds the envelope and letter up for Rion to see.

Rion squints at it. “No, should I?”

“It’s one of three creepy, threatening notes for Anna from some type of stalker,” Felix explains.

Rion stands up and rushes forward before his chains yank him back.

“Someone has been sending you threats?” Rion strains against his chains.

“Hey, it’s okay,” I step forward with my hand raised.

Blaze grabs my arm and pulls me back from Rion. I turn to glare at him over my shoulder and he just shrugs. “He’s enraged.”

I look at Rion who is still pulling on his restraints.

“They’re just vague messages that don’t mean anything. They haven’t done anything but send these. I’m here and fine Rion,” I say softly.

His eyes search over me for any sign of harm before he slowly starts to relax.

Griffyn whistles and says, “Someone’s protective.”

Rion looks a little sheepish as he moves back over to the wall and leans on it. “It’s hard when I’m down here and unable to help. Someone could come into this house and attack Anna and I would be stuck down here. It’s a terrible feeling.”
