There are no noises from any woodland creatures with such a fierce predator in the area.

After close to ten minutes, Blaze lands in front of me. His dragon rubs his head against my arm one more time before shifting back into Blaze.

I only get a glance at his muscles and naked body before I’m spinning around.

He taps my shoulder so I turn around and face him again.

“That was incredible!” I gush.

His lips twitch up before holding a hand out to me. I grab it and he takes us back to the house.

Blaze starts marching inside with me trailing behind him.

I grab his hand, making him swivel to face me.

“Seriously, thank you, Blaze. Your dragon is striking! I feel so lucky I got to see him. Thank you for trusting me enough to bring me.”

“Of course. You’re welcome any time, maybe you could even ride me one day.”

My eyes widen. Anticipation thrums through my body. “I would love to.”

“Where have you been?” Aksel interrupts the moment.

I abandon Blaze to explain and escape with my high still intact.

Anna

I wake up in Felix’s arms, the morning of the ball, to someone knocking on the door.

“What?” I groan. It feels like the sun hasn’t even come up yet.

“Anna, someone is here to get you dressed. Get up and take advantage,” Akshole’s annoying voice says.

“Fine!” I huff.

I crawl away from Felix who falls right back asleep.

When I swing open the door, Aksel is standing there waiting with his arms crossed.

“Come on.”

I follow behind him to the living room where a petite woman with bright red hair is setting up.

When she hears us coming, she turns around and squeals, running over to hug me. She squeezes me tight in her arms.

“Uh…” I have no idea what to say right now. Why is she so excited to see me?

“Adelina, you’re being strange,” Aksel comments.

“Sorry, sorry!” She pulls back and I get a good look at her face. I see the resemblance between her and Aksel. Their hair and eyes are completely different, although her hair is dyed, but their bone structure is almost identical.

I glance up at Aksel and confirm what I’m seeing is true. Did he bring someone from his family here?

“This is my cousin, Adelina. As you can see by her sunny disposition, she wasn’t raised anywhere near me.”

His cousin?
