“I’ll be faster,” I say then take off.

I zoom across the place to where Aksel is examining a bookcase.

“We have a lead,” I tell him.

He jumps in the air.

“Damn Anna! Don’t sneak up on me!”

“Shouldn’t you be aware of your surroundings while we are on a mission?”

He growls at me. “Don’t let it go to your head, but you have a gift for stealth that’s hard for even me to detect.”

A few minutes of awkward silence later Aksel and I come back to the others.

“It’s outside,” I say, leading the way.

When we find the shadow again, I see eyes sweeping over it but Aksel is locked in.

“They’ve hidden it in shadows, my specialty.”

He raises his hands and I watch the darkness surrounding the area swell up and rush towards him. He absorbs it until the unnatural inkiness is gone.

A cellar door is sitting against the house.

“Jackpot,” I say.

Felix quickly adds, “There’s a diversion spell so we need to break it or coach each other through it.”

“Without a mage we can’t break it. We will have to force each other past it,” Aksel says.

“We don’t have long until they’re back,” Blaze reminds us.

“Then we move fast,” Felix says.

“I’ll go first,” Griffyn says, stepping forward.

When he starts to slow down, and hesitates, Aksel yells out, “Keep going Griffyn. There’s no reason to leave, you need to get inside.”

Griffyn takes hesitant steps forward but it’s clear he’s trapped by the spell.

Aksel glances at me before shouting, “Anna is in there and she needs you!”

That gets Griffyn moving. He doesn’t hesitate as he pushes past the spell, rips open the cellar door, and jumps inside.

Aksel coaches the rest of us inside as well, using the same tactics.

“Anna, you coach me through. Stand up in the cellar door and get me over to you,” Aksel instructs.

I’m shocked he trusts me to do this.

Felix gives me a knowing smile before gesturing for me to act.

It doesn’t take much to get him through, just my voice telling him he needs to get over to me.

Then, we are all inside.

Our excitement swells, we found what we came here looking for. Now, we need to find the weaver and get the hell out of here before the Garmentas get home.
