Twenty Four

Blaze

Felix is nuzzling Anna’s neck on the couch. I called a meeting and as of now, they’re the only ones here.

A jolt of jealousy hits me. I want my mark on her just like his.

I take note of her reaction, she likes the nuzzling. I add it to my list of ways to interact with Anna.

My phone rings flashing with an X. I quickly silence the call but Anna notices.

I glare at her until she raises an eyebrow and looks away.

Great. I’m trying to get closer to her and instead, I’m being grouchy over a fucking phone call.

“We need to talk about Killian,” I say once everyone shows up.

“We haven’t found fucking anything about this necklace beyond what Rion could tell us,” Griffyn says.

“We have to find Killian and kill him. If he’s dead, Anna is free from the sire bond and can take the necklace off,” Felix growls.

They’re right. Anna’s life is in danger and I’m the only one who can do something about it.

I clench my hands to keep my anger in check.

“Then I’ll contact the weaver,” I say.

Anna’s eyes soften as she looks at me. “Blaze, what does contacting this weaver mean for you exactly?”

Nothing good.

I grunt to avoid answering her.

I pull my phone out and send the text before anyone can stop me.

I need your services

I close my phone, turning back to everyone gathered in the living room.

“Done. I’ll let you know when we have a response.”

“Blaze! Don’t just do things until we talk about them,” Anna tells me.

I tense. I don’t want her mad at me, but this is too important to wait around on.

“You need that amulet off as soon as possible. That means there isn’t time for me to convince you.”

Aksel tugs me out of the room and out of hearing range. “Blaze, you can’t do that again. What are you thinking contacting someone from your past?”

Aksel knows just enough about my past to be worried, but not enough to be absolutely chewing me out right now.

“It won’t come back to bite us, it’s fine.”

Lie.

I shoulder past him and head to my room. I don’t want to discuss this with them anymore.

Light footsteps follow me up the stairs and there’s only one person in this house they could belong to.
