I stop at my door and turn to face her.

“You’re not going to change my mind.”

She rolls her eyes. “It doesn’t matter anyway. You already did it. I’m here to check on you, Blaze.”

Nothing on my face changes, but I’m shocked. It’s not often I’m surprised.

“You came up here to check on me?” I ask.

“Yeah, Blaze. You don’t have to tell me why this is a big deal, but it’s clearly hard for you. So, if you don’t want to talk then let’s just hang out.”

I turn the handle on my door and let Anna in.

She sweeps past me and lays right on my bed and grabs the remote.

“What do you want to watch?” She asks while channel surfing.

I shrug.

“Come on. Sit down, put your arm around me, and tell me what shows you like.”

I’ve never felt as awkward as I do right now. No one has asked me for things like this.

She looks over at me and raises an eyebrow.

I take slow steps to the bed. I follow her instructions sitting next to her and wrapping an arm around her like I’ve seen Felix and Griffyn do a million times.

She snuggles into me immediately making herself comfortable. I take a deep breath and relax my body. Nothing feels more right than having my mate in my arms.

Ever since the Griffyn incident, I’ve known I have to tell her before something happens and she needs my blood. The truth should come from me.

But I’m going to enjoy this moment with her first in case I don’t get another one.

“So, what show?” Her words bring me out of my thoughts.

“I don’t watch TV.”

Her head snaps back to look at me so quickly I would be concerned she had whiplash if she wasn’t a vampire.

“That can’t be true! I’ve seen you watch it with everyone else.”

I shrug. “If someone else puts it on I don’t leave the room, but this TV has never been touched.”

“We have so much for you to catch up on! This explains so much. You would be less miserable all the time if you had the joy of TV.”

“I’m not miserable,” I grumble.

Anna starts typing something into the search bar.

She pulls up the first season of a show called Big House.

“What’s this?” I ask.

“It’s my favorite show in the whole world and we are starting with season one! This is so exciting. I can’t wait to watch this with you.”

Her joy is infectious. I would sit through static if it made her happy. It’s an excuse to spend time with her and I will milk it for all it’s worth.

“Okay.”
