Page 79 of Pure Evil

It’s as if I have wounded a fragile creature and I hate how that makes me feel.

“How do you know it was the truth?” I say roughly, and she shakes her head sadly. “Because it all adds up.”

She sighs and stares at me with so much disappointment it shocks me.

“I thought you were a good man.”

“What is a good man, Purity, because I’d like to meet him?” I reply with a dark edge to my voice. “Is it your father who taught you that good always wins against evil?”

I grip her wrist hard and snarl, “Because he was lying to you your entire life. At least I don’t pretend to be anything else.”

“What do you mean?”

Her lip trembles as I hiss. “Your father is a drugs dealer. He sells it for profit and then preaches the bible to counteract the evil inside him.”

“He doesn’t.” She says, the anger in her eyes exciting me.

“He’s a good man. He advises the reverend.”

“Oh yes. Reverend Peters. The man who died for his sins. The serial killer who indulged his hobby by imprisoning young women and beating the shit out of them. I know all about your good reverend and let me tell you, he is better off dead.”

“You knew him?” Her eyes are wide, and I shake my head. “I knewofhim. My grandfather arranged a contract with him, but I knew enough to know Ineverwanted to do business with a man like that. I sent Gabriella to meet with your father to buy his drugs. She told me the latest shipment wasn’t good enough, just like your father. Just like her, as it happens because Gabriella Sinclair has just painted a huge fucking target on her back by betraying me.”

The power surges through me as my demon is released from where he has been hiding and it’s almost a relief as I face her with full honesty for once.

“So, my darling wife, we will head back in there and play the game. You will honor the contract and we will work this out. You can ask me anything at all, but I want you to understand one thing before we head inside.”

“What?” She glares at me with disappointed bitterness, but I ignore how it cuts me so deep inside.

I pull her roughly into my arms and hold her face in my hands, gazing deeply into those soulful eyes as I whisper, “I am everything she told you. I am the man you never wanted to find. No compassion, no morality and no fucks to give. Until you.”

My eyes burn brightly as I stare deep into her beautiful eyes and I whisper huskily, “I need you to make me better, Purity. To show me how to feel. To teach me what is important in life and to make me a better man. As it turns out, you have the hardest job in the world because there is nobody who has fallen as low as I have. Help me, Purity because you are the only one who can?”

Her eyes fill with tears, and she sags against me, her lip trembling as she whispers, “I want to believe you, Killian. I want to see the good in you and I want to make this work. I will need some time to think about it though. Please give me that at least.”

The tears spill across her pale cheeks and I lean down and lick them away before resting my lips against hers and whispering, “Trust me, Purity. I’m dealing with some serious shit right now and I need you to be strong. Don’t let me fall.”

To my surprise, her lips crash against mine and I swear my heart explodes. This kiss is urgent, desperate and a declaration. I tangle my fingers in her hair and devour her. It’s as if I can’t get enough and as I press my hard body against hers, she says huskily, “I can’t walk away from you.”

She trembles against me, and it becomes the most important thing to be alone right now and so I break away and say quickly, “Come. This can’t wait another minute.”

I pull her after me as if my life depends on it and as we take the elevator to the penthouse, I have only one thing on my mind.

Convincing her to stay.

* * *

The elevator doorsclose and I push her hard against the mirrored walls, biting, licking and nipping her neck as she gasps with pleasure. Her hands force their way under my shirt and her soft fingers graze against my chest as I press in hard against her soft, silk-encased body.

The doors open and we spill out into the finest penthouse suite the state offers and her eyes are wide as she stares around at the backdrop of the city through the floor to ceiling window.

“It’s beautiful.” She gasps and then squeals as I rip the dress from her body in one violent move, leaving her naked in the center of the room.

“Killian!” Her eyes are wide as I tear off my shirt, closely followed by my pants, and I growl, “Come.”

I sit on the couch and pull her astride me, pushing up inside her with one violent thrust. Her eyes roll back in her head as I grip her shoulders and push inside, roughly and with a sense of ownership I desire more than anything.

I must know she is mine. Will always be mine. It’s a desperation that won’t leave me. Almost as if this act alone will be the lock that only I hold the key to. Her prison if you like, because she will never get away from me.
