I realized the moment I thought I’d lost her and when she told me she loved me, it made me believe I could move mountains.

Nonna was right. Love brings the greatest power on earth because I will do everything possible to keep it burning. For her and for our baby.

When she told me she was pregnant, I felt a fierce burst of love aimed straight at my heart. There were so many emotions battling inside me and my life changed forever. I have a purpose now. I have a family and I will make it my life’s work to protect that with everything I’ve got.

The last thing I want is to let her go, but Saint appears at my shoulder and clears his throat.

“Boss. The cops want a word.”

I stare at Purity and kiss her soft sweet mouth and whisper, “I must deal with this. Come with me.”

I grasp her hand and she hesitates, causing me to stop. “What’s wrong?”

“My friend Faith is here with her man, Jonny. I was about to get in the car, and she called to me from across the street. We were in the coffee shop when the car exploded. I thought…” She stares at me in obvious distress and yet as I look past her and see her friend waiting anxiously nearby, there is only one thing I must do. Tugging her with me, I cross the street and head toward the couple who are staring warily at me.

“Thank you.” My voice is ragged and filled with emotion. They nod and I grip Purity’s hand tightly and whisper, “You saved my wife’s life. I will be eternally grateful to you and anything you need, you come to me.”

Her friend stares at us and a huge smile breaks out across her face.

“We only want her to be happy.” She says with a sweet smile, and I nod. “That makes three of us. Consider it done already.”

I stare at the man with interest and note the battered leather jacket on his back and conclude that this man is one of the bikers who rescued them from Heaven.

“I owe you my gratitude–” I break off and he replies, “Jonny.”

He stares at me with no emotion, only interest, and there is something about him that tells me he is no ordinary biker.

“What club are you from?” I am curious and he replies in a deep voice.

“Twisted Reapers MC.” He stares me straight in the eye and I nod with a wry smile. “I promise you I’ll take good care of Purity.”

“That’s all we want.” He takes his girl’s hand and says in a gruff tone. “Purity is family. We care about her.”

He fixes me with a hard stare, and I nod, understanding the meaning behind his words, “As I said before, that makes three of us. You are welcome any time in our home.”

Purity steps forward and hugs her friend and I watch the two women who came from the same beginnings cling to one another as if they can’t bear to let go. Then Jonny removes a cell phone from his jacket and says to Purity, “We got you a gift. It appears you lost the last one.”

He fixes me with a look that I acknowledge with a wry smile. As he hands it to Purity, he says softly, “Faith’s number is here along with mine and Ryder’s. We’ve also installed a tracking device, so if you lose it again, we will find it.”

It makes me smile knowing they will be watching over her because how could I have a problem with that?

Purity grins and says with excitement. “Prepare to watch me travel the world because Killian has promised to take me.” Faith stares in surprise and I slide my arm around my wife’s shoulder and grin. “I never back out of a promise.”

Saint is waiting and I’m reminded of the can of worms I’ve opened, and I say with a sigh. “Listen. I could be some time. Maybe you should all go back to the house and James will fix you some food. If your friends need to stay, there are many guest bedrooms that are always prepared.”

Purity turns and her eyes sparkle. “Really. They can stay.”

“Of course. If they want to, that is.”

Faith squeals with excitement. “Oh my god, that will be amazing. We can catch up properly. Do you mind, Jonny?”

He smiles at her and winks. “Of course.”

With a sigh, I turn to Saint. “Send another car to collect them. Make certain it’s clean.”

He nods and types out a text and turning to my wife, I whisper, “Duty calls, but tonight we talk.”

“Just make it back home as fast as you can.”
