The day passes with an uncomfortable feeling of being scrutinized, and I often feel as if I am being watched. I catch the stares of Sarah and a few other of my employees as well. They may have been wondering how I got so close to a celebrity athlete in such a short time.

I ignore my employees’ imploring stares, and once Ethan texts me about his arrival, I rush to the car.

"Whoa, is everything okay?"

I sigh as I brush my hair away from my face.

"Yes, I'm just tired."

"I'm sorry about that."

I laughed, confused.

"Why are you sorry?"

"I wanted you to have a good day at work. But it looks like it didn't go all that well."

We stop at a red light. The silence is suffocating this time. I turn to ask Ethan about his day, something to drive my mind away from the memory of those stares when Ethan turns at the same time to talk to me.

"Why don't you tell me about-"

"Hey, what if we-"

As soon as I face Ethan, he turns to say something to me too and our lips meet into a kiss. Our eyes widen in shock, and my bag slips through my fingers and onto my lap. We stare at each other before I force myself back and detach our lips from each other. Ethan looks dazed when I turn away and press my fingers to my lips. What just happened?

"I'm sorry," I mumble, almost whispering.

My mind races with fear. I won't lie. I am attracted to Ethan. However, I hadn't intended to make a move at all, too bothered by our difference in status and his relationship as Aiden's best friend.

"It's alright," Ethan whispers back, and we fall into silence, which allows my fear to grow.

Will Ethan throw me out?

The second we enter the apartment; I race to reach my room. My mind is in chaos, and I want it to disappear. I’m across the living room when I feel a tug on my arm, and Ethan pulls me towards him.

"I'm sorry."

Why was he apologizing?

"It's okay. You're not the only one at fault."

Ethan sighs before pulling me close enough for my hands to rest on his chest.

"I'm not apologizing for the kiss, but for the way it happened. I intended to woo you a bit more before making a move."

"What?"

I stare in bewilderment as Ethan leans closer.

"I intend to fix my mistake. Please, stop me anytime and I’ll back off."

With that, he leans down and presses his lips onto mine in a searing kiss. It seems gentle at first before turning more passionate with each passing second. I almost break the kiss with a laugh. He says to stop him but how can I when his touch on my body pulls me deeper into the comforting space I long for? So, I let him lead as I follow.

We break apart and he tucks a hair behind my ear.

"Your bedroom or mine?"

"You, yours," I stutter, encouraging a deep chuckle out of him.
