“Do you know anyone who can get us an in?” I asked, hating that this would be the second favor I’d owe him if he did.
Thankfully—or maybe not so much—he shook his head. “Anyone trustworthy there is fighting their own battles. They don’t have time for anything else. Or they’re in hiding, doing their best to keep their families safe.” He paused and looked me square in the eyes. “You’re going to be on your own.”
Why was I not surprised to hear that?
“I need to get back to the apartment,” I said. “I’m not sure if I’ll see you before we leave. I don’t want to stay long enough for anyone who doesn’t need to know to find out where we are and bring trouble to your front door.”
D reached a hand toward me. “Appreciated. Let me know how things work out.”
“Will do.” I accepted the shake, then he went walking back toward his men.
I’d been gone for a couple of hours. Hopefully, that was enough time for Kinsley to sleep, because it was time for us to find her wolf.
Chapter10
KINSLEY
When I woke up from my much-needed nap, I was hoping the sexual frustration that had been coursing through me earlier would have eased up some. Instead, it was reignited when I opened my eyes to find Grayson standing over me with his arms crossed.
Muscles bulged from under his tight, black tee, and there was a sexy tic right above his jawline that I could see through the light scruff on his face.
His dark eyes stared right into my soul, and I smirked. “I don’t bite if you want to lie down.”
He leaned closer, placing a hand next to each of my shoulders. His lips were within inches of mine. All I had to do was push up onto my elbows and I could capture his mouth, but then he spoke, reminding me why I’d been taking care of myself earlier instead of letting him touch me.
“Ido bite. Now get your ass up. We have work to do.” He began backing away, then paused and added, “You can sleep more later tonight.”
My palm was aimed for his chest, but he got out of the way of my trajectory before I could make contact.
Stupidly fucking sexy demon wolf.
I rolled out of the bed and groaned when I stretched. I wasn’t sure how much sleep I’d gotten, but since it’d been dark when I’d finally closed my eyes and the sun still wasn’t up now, I didn’t suspect much.
Still in the T-shirt and leggings I’d been wearing when Grayson had taken me, I padded my way to the bathroom.
My skin felt itchy, so the first thing I did was remove my clothes, then I bent over to turn on the shower.
Just as my fingers touched the metal knob, a loud growl echoed through the small room.
I peeked over my shoulder, and Grayson was standing in the open doorway with flames in his eyes.
His stare was locked on my bare ass, which was on full display for him.
I might not have been with a man before, but I sure as hell knew how to handle my hormones, and if Grayson wanted to tempt me, I was going to do the same to him.
My hand quickly turned on the shower, and I pushed the curtain open before turning to face him fully. “Do you only bite in the bedroom? If so, I’m not opposed to sharing the shower if you were hoping to use it.”
The rumbling coming from him was so deep, I swore my toes felt the vibrations. “Put some fucking clothes on.”
I chuckled. “How about you knock next time?”
“You weren’t supposed to be naked so fast,” he countered.
I nodded and placed a hand on my hip. “Right. Did you need something, Grayson?”
His eyes couldn’t focus on any one place for very long, but he was still capable of words. “D offered to provide clothes. I didn’t know your size or what you’d want.”
Oh, God. This was priceless.
