“Sasha?” A much higher voice chirps from somewhere in the background, then a dark-haired human female is pushing Rovos aside to take up the screen. “You have Sasha? Can I see her? Is she alright?”

“Bela, I told you to wait.” Rovos growls, with no real heat in his voice.

“She is fine, female,” Vruk assures her softly. Then he turns his attention back to Rovos. “We have mated her.”

“You—wait,both of you?”Bela gasps.

“Bela,” another male growls in warning, just before a red scaled arm hooks around her shoulders and tries pulling her away.

“Treto, wait,” she snaps back. Then turns her attention back to us, “Is she agreeable to thismating?”

I can’t help the grin spreading across my lips at the memory of just how agreeable and enthusiastic she was. “I assure you. She is most agreeable.”

The female’s expression softens, and she smirks. “Damn you aliens and your magic dicks.”

Before I can ask what she means by that the scaled male—he must be her mate—pulls her away and Rovos takes her place in front of the screen once more.

“So, you’ve mated her.”

“We have,” Vruk replies. “We wanted to let you know she was safe and well cared for.”

“We also thought to ask if you had the coordinates for her home planet,” I add, which has Vruk snapping his head toward me. “Our mating is new, and I want her to have the option of her home planet should she want it.”

Rovos nods slowly, “Valiant of you. I wish you both well on your mating, your female has honorable males to call her own.”

A moment later the coordinates appear on the screen and Vruk copies them.

“Her planet is calledEarth, and it is in a pre-spaceflight sector. They’ve only just begun exploring past their solar system.”

“Thank you, Rovos,” I nod, filing that information away. Being pre-spaceflight means they are supposed to be off limits to any off-worlders. That also means we’ll need to be extra cautious not to be seen when—if—we return her.

“Bela was one of the women captured from Earth with your mate,” Rovos explains. “She has chosen to live at the human sanctuary on Pamia with my mate and Skylar, another Earth female she was taken with. If you find yourselves in the area, I’m sure they would be happy to reunite.”

“We’ll keep that in mind,” I say. “Thank you again.”

“There is one more thing,” Rovos adds. “I offered a bounty for information on humans.”

“Keep it,” Vruk speaks up as I open my mouth to thank him for his generosity and my head snaps to the side, giving him one of my best glowers. “Save it for others who may need the credits more than we do.”

“Since when do we not need credits?” I growl under my breath.

Vruk darts a glance at me, promising we’ll discuss this later, and I sigh and let it go.

“I wish you good luck,” Rovos’ mouth quirks in a smile, and his eyes slide to the side before coming back to us. “These humans keep us males on our toes.”

A moment later the screen goes blank.

“You want to send her home?” Vruk hisses at me. “After we’ve just found her? You would send her away?”

“No, never.” I try to assure him. “But if we don’t give her the option, how will we know if she really chooses to stay with us?”

Vruk is quiet for a long time before he finally nods. “You’re right, but I hate it.”

“Have some faith, brother.” I tell him, even as my stomach churns with nerves.
