He turned to her and smirked arrogantly. “For now, yes. You didn’t think you would get to come after a punishment, did you?”

“But I’m horny!” Catherine protested, squirming against the heat of the seat. “And sore!”

“And you can stay that way, until I decide otherwise.”

“Bastard.”

“Careful,” he warned. “I’m sure you don’t want another spanking quite so soon?” He raised an eyebrow, but then his voice softened. “I will finish pleasuring you later, I promise. But for now, keeping you right on the edge of orgasm is part of your punishment.”

Catherine’s stomach flipped at his words.

A moment later, Jason rested his hand on her knee. Catherine held her breath, waiting, silently begging him to touch her throbbing pussy again. Just a touch—that was all she needed. Instead, he braked as a big wooden sign standing in the paddock next to the road just up ahead announced their destination.

Catherine grimaced in pain as the car bumped and rattled over the cattlestop, jolting her hurting bottom. They rounded a bend in the driveway and pulled up outside a big corrugated iron shed.

She looked around, confused. None of this was familiar; this area hadn’t featured in her dream at all. Were they in the right place?

“This isn’t it,” she whispered, biting back her frustration. “This isn’t the right place.”

But Jason didn’t hear her. Already, he was turning off the ignition and opening his door as a man and a woman came out from between the gap in the trees. Catherine reached toward the back of the car, hoping to slip her knickers back on before they got too close.

“No, leave them,” Jason said. “You’re fine as you are.”

Catherine’s face flamed. “No. I’m not meeting strangers with no underwear on. No way.” She’d never gone without underwear before, and it just felt wrong. Deliciously scandalous when she was alone in the car with Jason, but it just didn’t feel decent, being naked under a skirt in semi-public, with people she’d never met before. It was a deal-breaker for her, and something in her face must have shown that because Jason conceded defeat.

“Okay,” he agreed. “But they’re coming off again once we’re alone.”

Catherine nodded. That was fair.

The woman walking toward them froze when she came through the trees. Her face paled. Jason gasped.

“Carly?”

Catherine stiffened. Carly? Who was Carly? And why did Jason know her? This was getting weirder by the minute.

Jason got out of the car quickly and strode over to meet the couple, giving her a little bit of privacy to fix herself up. It was hard, sliding knickers on over her shoes while sitting in the car and keeping her lower body hidden from view, and she winced as her throbbing butt scraped against the seatbelt clicker. How could a spanking hurt so badly, for so long? Was it just the heated seat that was keeping her bottom tender? She hoped that the sting would ease, once she was outside in the fresh air, off the hot leather.

Hesitantly, dressed now, Catherine hopped out of the car and made her way over to where Jason was talking to the woman he had called Carly, and the man she stood beside who had come out through the gap in the trees with her. Carly appeared to have relaxed now, and smiled as Catherine walked over to meet them.

As soon as she got close enough, Jason wrapped his arm around her waist and tugged her in toward him possessively. He introduced the couple as Carly and Josh. They both shook her hand. Neither of them were familiar. Josh didn’t look anything like the man she saw in her dream—he was much younger, for starters.

“So how do you two know each other?” Catherine asked, gesturing between Jason and Carly. She watched the guarded expressions pass between them, but then Jason spoke.

“We were rival competitors, years ago,” Jason told her. “A long time ago.”

Carly’s face paled again and she visibly trembled. “Not long enough,” she murmured quietly, her voice broken, barely above a whisper. “It will never be long enough.”

Catherine watched as Josh bent down and whispered something in Carly’s ear, slipping a comforting arm around her waist. She had no idea what he said, he spoke too softly for her to hear, but it obviously worked to calm Carly down because she straightened up, squaring her shoulders, and gave Catherine a small smile.

“We’ll take the chopper over there,” Josh pointed to a blue helicopter withRyan’s Peak Station Helicopterswritten on the side in fancy white lettering. “It’s just a short flight. You okay flying? We can go up in the Jeep otherwise. It’s a bit of a bumpy track, though.”

Catherine nodded. “Flying’s good.” It wasn’t really—she’d had a phobia about flying in a small aircraft for as long as she could remember, but after sitting for so long on a sore bottom in a hot seat, she really wasn’t sure that she could cope with sitting in another vehicle, especially one that would bump and jolt. Especially with people she didn’t know. Flying was definitely the better option.

Josh and Jason loaded all their gear into the helicopter—the bags and chilly bin of food—and Carly told Catherine about the hut.

“You’re the only people to use it for a romantic getaway,” she said. “Usually it only gets used by fishermen and hunters. And by us, during the muster. It’s the perfect spot for romance, though.” She smiled wistfully. Judging by the look on her face, she’d had her fair share of romantic happenings there.
