I decide I’m going to talk until he shifts back to human. I want to know what’s going on, and if it disturbs the love birds, that’s an added bonus.

“Did you change form in your sleep, too?” I ask, nodding my head at him, trying to get him to nod back. It doesn’t work. He looks too depressed to move his head from the floor.

“I wonder if it means something,” I go on, my gaze moving over to the kitchen table.

I can see the straps from the backpack Dante and Amanda brought back here before.

That bag belongs to a witch, and that makes me wonder if somehow, we’ve been hit with a spell.

“You think the witch did it?” I ask Sean, nodding again.

He whines at me, before he gets up and pads over to his room.

The door’s ajar and he pushes it open all the way before he disappears inside.

“Well, if you didn’t feel like talking, all you needed to do was tell me.”

I get to my feet and go over to the table. Thankfully, my dick is no longer swelling up the front of my pants, and my claws have retracted. My glowing vision vanishes a second later, and I go turn on the kitchen lights. Sean walks back into the room in a pair of jeans while I’m pouring milk into a saucepan to make hot cocoa. He runs a hand through his hair as he approaches the kitchen counter.

“So, do you know what that was, or do we need to wake the exorcist?”

He winces at my mention of Dante in the context of his demonic possession.

Yeah, sore point. Probably shouldn’t have poked it. Too bad I’m feeling a little pokey.

“We definitely don’t need an exorcist,” Sean mutters.

“Good to know,” I tell him, as I put the saucepan on the stove top. “You want?”

He shakes his head. “My mom loved that stuff, but I never got the taste for it.”

“That’s probably a good thing. You have a taste for a lot of savory stuff. It wouldn’t be fair to have that bodyanda sweet tooth.”

He laughs as I open the cocoa tin.

“So, if you know we don’t need an exorcist, then that means you know what that was?”

He nods slowly, his gaze going back to Dante’s bedroom door.

It is kind of weird that he was sitting outside the room like that.

“Did something happen while I was sleeping?” I ask him.

“Amanda’s ready,” he tells me, which makes me think I didn’t hear him correctly.

“Huh?” I ask, frowning at him.

He draws me an expectant look, and I don’t get the meaning of it.

“She’s ready to start having kids,” he says, making me drop the cocoa tin and spill the dark powder all over the counter.

“Um, what?” I ask, as I try to let that information sink in.

“Our wolves took over because she’s ready. It’s the blessing. It’s going to happen.”

Holy fucking shit. I can’t believe this is happening.

Our mate wants to start a family.
