I blink at him. “What … How …”

It’s useless. I have too many questions, and he can’t answer any of them.

“Shouldn’t we go in there?”

He shakes his head. “Whatever’s happening right now, it’s between the two of them. If they want us to be involved, they’ll come out here and get us.”

He has to be joking. “I can’t believe this. She’s going to have his kid first.”

“We don’t know that,” Sean tells me. “If it happens, it happens.”

“How can you be so calm about this?” I ask him as I save what’s left of the cocoa powder and start cleaning up the mess I’ve made on the counter. “She’s our mate, too, and we’ve never even had the talk about family.”

He shrugs. “Wolves operate on instinct. That’s what’s happening tonight. She felt ready, and we got the blessing. There isn’t always time for discussions about everything. Sometimes this is just how things go.”

“Apollo’s sake,” I mutter. “She’s going to have a little Omega warlock with his smug smile.”

“If she does, you’ll love him just as much as if he was your own.”

I would, too, and Dante will love that. He’s so annoying.

“Why tonight?” I grumble as I make my hot cocoa.

Sean doesn’t have an answer.

I tell myself it doesn’t matter.

I get to spend tomorrow night with Amanda.

Valentine’s night. Nothing gets to spoil that.

Not even knowing she’s going to have Dante’s baby.

Chapter thirteen

Amanda

Idon’tknowwhenI’ll ever learn that it’s not a smart idea to sleep in the bed of my older warlock boyfriend when I need to get up for class in the morning and he has a shockingly accurate ability for turning the alarm clock off before it even starts to make any noise. Without waking up.

That’s the really scary part. He’s completely zonked when I realize it’s a quarter to nine.

“Wake up, Dante! We’re late for class!”

“Just five more minutes,” he mumbles as I jump out of his bed.

Last night’s shock rushes through my thoughts as I dart out of the room.

It feels like a strange dream I had, and I kind of hope it stays that way, at least for a little while.

I’m not used to the idea, yet. Not completely.

I flush when I see Parker standing at the counter, a mug in his hand.

He blinks at me, with a questioning look on his face.

“Dante turned off the alarm,” I tell him as I rush into my room.

“Shit. Is that the time?” Parker asks, sounding surprised. I think he’s wearing yesterday’s clothes, but I could be wrong. The new stuff he got in the fall all kind of looks the same.
