I have a quick rummage in my closet, bringing out my bag for school and a hastily chosen outfit.

Throwing everything on the bed, I dash into the bathroom I share with Sean.

My Alpha’s still sleeping as I close the door that leads to his room, taking a second to make sure I’m quiet about it. I turn on the shower, and then I start brushing my teeth.

I already know I’m going to be late for class.

The only question now is:how late am I going to be?

I do everything I can to keep that answer as low as possible.

Washing up and getting dressed in under ten minutes, I step out into the main room to find Dante yawning in the middle of the space, his hair a little messed up and his clothes seriously crumpled.

“Isn’t that what you were wearing last night?” I ask him, raising an eyebrow, noticing a trend.

Clearly, he spent his ten minutes mostly in bed. I guess I can’t really blame him for that. Not after what happened, or almost happened last night.

Parker shakes his head from the counter, still holding a mug. “You could at least put on clean clothes.”

Okay, now I’m sure Parker’s wearing yesterday’s clothes.

“And you could mind your business.” Dante shoots him a smile, before he turns back to me.

He shrugs as he holds his hand out to me. “I’ll shower at lunch. Come on, you’ll be late.”

Oh, Goddess. There’s no way in hell we’re not going to be late.

Five minutes isn’t enough to get us out to the street.

When I blink, I see that I was wrong.

Dante got us to school in time, thanks to a teleport that could expose him as a high-level spell-caster.

We’re inside the building, halfway along a dead-end hallway that my class is just around the corner from. It’s one of the places he likes to meet me for a quick make-out session between classes every now and then.

“Dante!” I complain. “That was way too risky.”

He doesn’t look worried in the slightest as he leans in and kisses me, his fresh breath proving he at least brushed his teeth before he tossed yesterday’s clothes back on this morning.

I make an obligatory noise of protest at his lack of concern before I give in to the kiss.

We’re not going to be caught back here, and I’m no longer in any danger of having to walk into a classroom late. I wrap my arms around him and enjoy the moment.

He breaks the kiss a minute later with a sigh. “Don’t stay out all night with Park.”

“I won’t, and I’ll see you at lunch, remember?”

That reminder brings out his smile. He yawns as he lets go of my hand, headed to the stairs.

“See you at lunch!” he calls back to me as he disappears from sight.

I round the corner cautiously. The second I do I see a line of students filing into my classroom. Rachel glances up, her eyes widening in shock when she sees me approach.

“Amanda, hey. Where were you?”

I feel a little stab of guilt for not meeting my friend out front like usual, but it’s not the first time it’s happened, and I doubt it’ll be the last, either.

“Dante,” I explain.
