“How about now?” Her voice was smoky—aphrodisiac.

“Getting’ there.”

“Dad! Wasp!” Dillon hollered.

Gasping, she stepped away from me.

“Dinner!” He continued.

Groaning with my head tossed back, I stole another grope of her boobs then allowed her to lead me into the kitchen area.

I tried enjoying this moment—trying to see what a night would be like in my house if Seema was my woman. The glimpse that I was getting sent a happy charge through me. But a video call from Tex ruined that, and I was then plunged into a shit mood.

“Well, I have some info.” He told us as Dillon went off to talk to Mae Lin.

I’d called her and asked her to distract him about their trip to China that coming summer. Mae Lin had the most beautiful property that reminded my son of a historical Chinese drama and he’d been obsessing about it for a year.

He was supposed to have gone for his fifteenth birthday, but COVID happened.

“You’re not going to be happy.” Tex warned us.

“Let me have it.” I told him.

“Audrey is out of money.” Tex replied. “She blew through the settlement she received after the divorce fast.”

“What in the actual hell could she have spent fifteen million dollars on already?” I demanded.

“Whoa!” Seema stepped in. “Fifteen million—as in millions with a M?”

“Yeah.” Tex replied. “Let’s see here—two mansions, fancy cars, designer clothes and piglet name Diggles? Grooming that thing is a mortgage payment per month.”

I covered my face and rubbed my tired eyes.

“So, she’s broke.” I sighed.

“Pretty much.” Tex replied. “She also invested in some start-up for her ex-boyfriend. Turns out it was a pyramid scheme and people were jailed. Her ex is serving twenty years for that.”

“How did she escape?” Seema asked.

“They proved that she just gave them the money—she was a silent, very silentpartner.” Tex was still typing. “I’m thinking she ran out of money, so she wants back into the bank.”

“Yeah, well.” I growled. “This bank is closed. Can you get Wolf in on this call?”

“One second.” Tex paused us.

Seema took that moment to squeeze my thigh but when Tex returned and Wolf popped up beside him on the screen, she released me.

That connection hadn’t been long enough.

I wanted more—needed more.

“You know.” Wolf spoke. “For a milti-millionaire, this woman sure goes to some sketchy neighbourhood.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, this is a part of Jane and Finch I don’t remember ever going to.” Wolf replied. “Even though I’m not from here—since we started running down leads for the American guys.”

“Is she meeting people?”
