“This is hard.” Dillon told Seema.

“Want to stop for today?” She asked.

“No.” He told her proudly. “I want to learn this. I won’t always have people watching over me. And if anything was to happen, I need to be prepared. I mean, what if something happened when I’m with Eli? I have to protect him like he protected me.”

My heart raced.

“Eli—he’s a good kid.”

“Yeah.”

The two tried the move a couple more times until Dillon picked it up and they moved on to another. I cleared my throat.

“Dad!” Dillon greeted me, chest heaving from exertion. “Did you bring food?”

“Yes, in the kitchen.”

He ran by me, and I shook my head.

“Teens, they think with their stomachs.” Seema smiled.

“Hi,” I said like an idiot.

She stuck her fingers in the back pockets of her jeans.

“Hi.” Seema replied. “I wanted to give him a few pointers. Nothing to turn him into Yip Man but—”

“Did you know who that was all along?” I entered the room. “Or did he have to explain it to you?”

“I knew.” She tilted her head. “Wait—please tell me you know who Yip Man is.”

“I do.” I sighed. “Now!”

She laughed.

Seema tossed her head back and laughed until she snorted.

“Oh—my—God.” She chortled. “You’re so uncool.”

“I know!” I closed my eyes and clutched at my heart. “I’ve officially crossed over intouncool dadterritory. I don’t like it here. How will I survive?”

“Awww.” Seema teased. “Poor baby.”

I pouted.

She walked up to me and pushed to her tip toes to press a kiss at the right corner of my mouth.

‘Feeling better?” Seema asked.

I pouted and shook my head.

She kissed the left corner of my mouth.

“Now?”

I pouted again and shook my head.

Stepping even closer, she dragged her palms down my arms, lifted my palms up and placed them on her breasts. She then kissed me—a real kiss that made my knees buckle.
