“No.” He kissed my nose. “You’ve been through a lot tonight. I want to spoil you.”

Nodding, I leaned heavily against his chest.

“I really am a mom, now, huh?” I asked, softly, staring at Dillon who was trying to figure out how the chopsticks worked. “Like really a mom.”

Dillon offered a shrug. “No take backs.”

I laughed as Carter kissed my head.

“And Charlie is working on the paperwork to oster Eli.” Carter announced. “He’s finally made the decision—between us, I think he wants to adopt him.”

“That would be nice.” Dillon whispered.

Carter reached over to rub Dillon’s back as two servers began bringing out the food we’d ordered. By the time we were alone, the excitement bubbling inside me could not be contained.

“We should have a dinner—get the whole gang together.” I lifted a shrimp to my lips. “I want all my people around me for a good time.”

“Then we’ll make that happen.” Carter promised. “Goddess?”

“Mm?”

“You know I love you, right?” Carter asked. “I know I haven’t been forthcoming with those words.”

“I know.”

“I don’t want—”

“I love you too.” I grinned.

“You don’t have to say it back because—”

I kissed him deeply.

“I love you, Carter Finch.”

Dillon groaned. “Awww, come on! We had this talk.”

Carter and I merely kissed again.

Dillon rolled his eyes but snickered.
