Boa tappedat his laptop as Mandy alternated between pacing and perching on the edge of the couch. She didn’t know exactly what was going down, but she knew it was enough of a threat that Mamba wanted Boa to babysit her.

Mandy swiped at her phone and connected with a number all too familiar to her, then shot a glance to Boa. “I’m ordering a pizza.”

Boa chuckled to himself.

“I know, it’s a total cliche, but I’m in the mood for some hot, cheesy deliciousness.”

Over the last hour she’d wheedled and cajoled Boa for information about what Mamba was doing, but of course he stayed loyal to Mamba and the Serpents code of silence. At least a nice, hot pepperoni pizza would satisfy her cravings.

“Can you at least tell me how much longer Mamba will be?”

“He’ll get here when he gets here.”

She knew she was driving the big beast crazy but her hormones were kicking in big time with the overall stress of suspecting Mamba was in danger. Along with the ache in her lower back, her swollen feet and constantly being hungry. She hoped the doctor was right about going into labor early.

Mamba already hadhis gun out as Python grabbed the tweaker, wrenched the keys out of his fist, then slammed him into the back of the van kicking and screaming.

The prospects pulled up as the four men scanned the empty lot. Joker jogged over to the SUVs and told the prospects to stand watch. “Last time there were two guys with semi-automatics.”

They slowly approached the back of the building their heads on swivel. When they got to the door, Joker nodded to Python who took the lead shouldering through the door with the others following him.

A dim light hung from the ceiling casting shadows over a broken down bar on one wall, cracked tile flooring and a battered table in the corner. They moved further into the vacant room and stopped.

“You hear that?” Mamba cocked his head.

“It’s coming from in there.” Rattler pointed to another door off to the side.

Python tried the doorknob, but it was locked. He threw a look over his shoulder then lifted his leg and booted the door. He flipped on the wall switch and they were met with at least six pairs of eyes wide and frightened.

“Holy, shit,” Joker mumbled.

The tiny room had to be close to one hundred degrees. The bastards had two sets of three women zip-tied together. How organized.

“Fuckin’ animals,” Mamba spit out between clenched teeth.

Python pulled out his knife and their eyes grew wider. “I’m not gonna hurt ya,” Python assured while Rattler eased the duct tape off their mouths. A few of them looked like they were on the verge of passing out so him and Joker scooped up their limp bodies and rushed them out to the waiting prospect in the SUV.

In another few minutes, they had the rest of the women out of the stifling room and into one of the SUVs.

They did a quick scan of the interior of the bar and all the side and back rooms. Nothing.

Python and Mamba exchanged a look. “That was easy, maybe too fuckin’ easy.”

“I agree, but aside from those girls, and the moron locked in the van, there’s nobody else here.”

“Marita definitely knew something was gonna go down.”

Python shrugged a shoulder as they exited the bar. “I don’t get it either.”

“I got a weird fuckin’ feeling about all this.” They piled into the other SUV and headed back to Vegas but Mamba’s nerves wouldn’t settle.

Boa’s phonerang and Mandy listened intently but all she could make out were a few cryptic words that meant absolutely nothing to her.

When he swiped away the call she looked at him expectantly. “Well?”
