Blake’s stunned reaction surprised him. “I can’t believe you would ever think that about yourself. You are one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. You are resourceful and insightful and see right though things most people can’t. You never miss a thing, which, I guess, was one reason I assumed you were just not interested when you never asked me about what I taught or what I spent years studying when you had to know it was a big part of me.”

“I want you to tell me about the things you love, Blake. As the days and months and years go by, I want to keep learning all about every part of you. Why don’t we start by going up to your room now and you telling me about some of your stuff.”

They stood and went to the stairs, walking up together, arms around each other this time, nearly tripping because their fervent kissing threw them off balance.

When they got to the sitting room next to her bedroom, he went directly to the strange figurine of a lady in a long dress, her arms lifted to the side, snakes wiggling in her hands. “This one is definitely weird.”

Blake laughed. “She is a Minoan snake goddess. Although I’ve taught general courses in world history and classical Greece and Rome, my specialty is Minoan and Mycenaean culture.”

“You’ve lost me already.”

“These are earlier cultures. The Minoans were centered in the island of Crete and go back as far as three thousand BC. The Mycenaeans in early Greece spanned the sixteen hundred BC area. They were incredible engineers and craftsmen. I spent a semester in Athens and also went to Crete.”

“Do you speak Greek?”

“I can read ancient Greek, which is different from modern Greek. I also read Virgil’sAeneidin Latin.”

He ran his finger across the spines of some books in her bookcase. “Sophocles, Thucydides. I can barley pronounce their names. What is epigraphy?”

“It’s the study of ancient inscriptions. I became interested in languages and the development of writing.”

“You are so out of my league. I’m the one who should be worried you’ll get bored of me and find someone else.”

She shrugged. “My own mother thought I was weird because I liked this stuff. We never quite understood each other. That was one reason I got so close to my mentor at Harvard. I spent several years during my graduate studies as her assistant and she became like a mother to me. She is the reason I was offered the position there.”

Morgan was not the kind of person who allowed himself to give in to doubts, but right now he could not stop himself from asking, “Are you sure about your decision to turn down the job and stay with me? Do you want to take another day to—”

Blake cut him off by hurling herself at him, her arms going around his waist, her mouth covering his.

“I take that as a yes?” he murmured against her lips.

“You are what I want, Morgan. You.”

When their kisses turned passionate, he whispered in her ear, “Would you consider continuing our discussion in bed?”

“Any time, any day, my love.” Blake led him into her bedroom, and he quickly got rid of her dress as she unbuttoned his shirt. Shoes and trousers and underwear all went flying in their haste.

His lips found hers again and they rolled onto her queen-size bed, their hands moving over each other as if they had been apart for a year. He could hardly believe how much he’d missed her in the short time they had been at odds.

Stretching out next to her, he took a rosy bud of her nipple into his mouth, using just a nip of his teeth to bite, and Blake let out one of her soft whines that he loved. Moving down her belly to her lady parts, he dipped his tongue in her folds, and then worked on her clit until she was panting, her fingers in his hair, her hips rocking.

“I can’t wait, Morgan. I need you inside me now,” she whimpered.

“More than ready, babe,” he growled and lifted himself up to hover over her, his weight on his elbows. His mouth found hers as he sank his cock inside her, joining more than their bodies together. Their lovemaking had been exciting from the start, but he had sensed it changing into something he’d never had before. A meeting of heart and soul.

“Don’t ever leave me, Blake,” he gasped out.

“No, Morgan, never. I love you so much.”

Her hips met his as he drove into her again and again, claiming her as his own, the fire building inside him with each thrust until they reached a fever pitch and soared over the edge together, shouting out their climax.

Morgan rolled onto his back, taking Blake with him to lie on his chest. They often fell into this position of repose after making love, and for someone who’d never been a cuddly type, he’d discovered he looked forward to this as much as the hot and heavy part of their bedroom sessions.

“We forgot to use a condom,” Blake said, her hand caressing his chest. “Of course, with my history it probably won’t matter.”

Morgan twirled a lock of her hair around his finger. “Let’s not worry about it. I’m too happy right now.”

“Me too.”
