“I wonder if she’ll ever like me as much,” Thorne admitted. Saying out loud made him sound like a pussy.

“She will,” Savage assured, “you just need to give her a chance to know you.”

“Yeah,” Thorne agreed.

“Speaking of,” Savage said, “you and my cousin seem to have gotten cozy.”

“We have,” Thorne said. If Savage was about to give him shit about his being with Rose, Thorne didn’t care who he was. He’d still set his club’s Prez straight.

“What are your intentions?” Savage asked, sounding like her father more than just her cousin. “I’m all the family she has left, so I think it’s a fair question.”

“It is,” Thorne agreed. “I plan on marrying her, but I don’t think she’s ready for that next step. She’s agreed to us moving in together, so that’s huge. She’s been through so much, I think that I just need to take me time with her, but I’m in love with her, man,” he admitted.

“Good to hear,” Savage said. “And yeah, I think that taking your time with her is a good idea too. But she’ll come around. Like I said, my cousin is smart.”

“Why am I so smart now?” Rose asked, joining them.

“She looks good,” the EMT said as Rose climbed onto the ambulance to be with her daughter. “I don’t see any signs of abuse.”

“Thank you so much for checking her out,” Rose said. She scooped Sadie up into her arms and Thorne helped her climb back down from the ambulance.

“How did it go in there?” he asked.

“Oh, it was fine,” Rose said. “I had to answer a ton of questions, but Joe is being held without bail since he’s a flight risk.”

“That’s great news,” Savage said. “How about I take Sadie over to the truck and get her buckled in. she looks tired. I’ve gotten us a couple of hotel rooms nearby and then, we can all head back to Huntsville in the morning, if you’re up for a road trip.”

“I’m more than ready to go home,” Rose agreed, “but, what about all of our stuff at the safehouse?”

“Bowie’s mom has already been out there and packed everything up for you guys. She shipped it back home to my place. I’ll run it by your new house once it is delivered.”

Rose went up on her tiptoes and kissed Savage’s cheek. “Thank you for everything,” she said. “We’ll be right over.” Savage walked across the parking lot to Thorne’s truck and started to put Sadie in her seat.

“So, we’re going home,” Rose said.

“Looks that way,” Thorne agreed.

“I have a small confession to make,” she said.

“Oh?” he asked.

“Yeah, I overheard you and Savage talking about the two of us moving in together,” she admitted.

“I see,” he breathed. Then she had heard the part about him wanting to marry her too.

“You love me?” she asked.

“I do,” he said, “and, I want to marry you, honey, but only when you’re ready.”

“Well, what if I told you that I think that I might be ready now?” she asked. He wasn’t sure if he should get his hopes up or not, but he was.

“You mean it?” he asked.

“I do,” Rose said. “I might still have a lot of demons to fight, but I was hoping that you’d want to help me fight them together. How about it, Thorne, you want to make me your wife?” she asked. He wanted that more than he wanted anything in his life.

“I’d love to call you my wife, honey,” Thorne said. He pulled her into his arms and sealed his mouth over hers. He wasn’t sure how it happened, but he had fallen for the sexy little hell cat and now, she was going to be his forever—Thorne’s Rose.

The End
