He shakes his head, “You look beautiful in anything. It’s fine.”

I don’t bother asking where we are going, because I know if he wanted me to know he would’ve told me already.

“We need to stop by the house before we go out, because I look like a fucking idiot in Max’s clothes.”

* * *

He hada driver pick us up and take us to his house so he could change. After Hunter was in his own clothing, we got into his vehicle to go somewhere.

“Feel better?” I ask as he pulls out of his driveway.

He grins, “Much. I prefer not to wear Gigantor’s clothes if I can avoid it.”

I giggle,“Gigantor’s?”

Hunter nods, “He’s a fucking giant. I’m six foot two. He makes me look short.”

He places his hand on my leg as he settles into the drive.

“I know I killed him.”

Snapping his head in my direction, he says, “What did you say?”

I repeat, “I know I killed him.”

He shakes his head, “No Jade. I did.”

Why is he lying to me? I know I killed him. I stabbed him in the heart after first getting him twice in the stomach.

We’re both quiet for the rest of the ride. Me wondering why the hell he’s lying to me. Him probably wondering how I know.

He pulls up to an outdoor shopping center and parks. I get out of the car and storm off before he has a chance to come around and open my door.

While I don’t look back, I know Hunter isn’t far behind. Not only can I feel his eyes on me, I know him, he’ll probably never let me out of his sight again after everything that has happened. Then, I’m proved right when I stop and look at a kiosk of jewelry. He wraps his arms around me pulling my back to his front, and whispers in my ear, “If you run I will catch you.”

I groan, “I’m not running. Please let me go.”

He loosens his grip and spins me around, “Calm down, Sassy girl.”

Taking my hand, he pulls me along the cobblestone ground. After walking for ten minutes, we end up at this small restaurant in the middle of a rose garden.

He pulls out a chair at a small black table, “Sit. Now.”

I blow out a big breath but do as he ordered and sit at the table. He takes the seat across from me and motions for the waitress.

“Two glasses of your finest white.”

“Our finest white is from Stellar Estate Winery.”

He growls, “Two glasses of that then.”

The waitress looks like she wants to crawl into a hole and hide. Her hands shake as she twists her fingers together nervously, “It’s only sold by the bottle, sir.”

Hunter glares at her, “Then bring me the fucking bottle.”

I gasp as she nearly sprints away.

“You scared the hell out of her. Can’t you be nice?”
