She shakes her head and stares out the window, “Don’t.”
I pull over into a wooded area, undo her seatbelt and pull her into my lap.

She intakes a deep breath like she’s bracing herself for a fight, “I want the block taken off my phone. Craig is dead. You need to trust me.”
My initial response is ‘fuck no’ but she’s right. He’s dead. The threat is eliminated. I can’t treat her like a prisoner if I want her to be my wife. Not if I want her to be happy, and I do.
“Alright. I’ll take care of it, today.”
She looks surprised but only responds with, “Thank you.”
Jade shuffles back over to the passenger seat. I start driving again and she seems far more relaxed. The bomb wasn’t as bad as I anticipated.
“I have to work over the next few days. I’ll be home late.”
A concerned expression crosses her face, “What will you be doing?”
“I can’t tell you that, baby. Trafficking bullshit. I can’t tell you more than that.”
She nods as I turn onto the highway passing the slow ass drivers in the right lane before the lanes merge.
“I’ll be leaving early in the morning. I need you to behave yourself.”
She smirks, “Yes, sir.”
I groan, “You have no idea how badly I want to tie you to the bed when you say that.”
Jade shrugs her shoulders, “So why don’t you?”
I fight down the chuckle trying to escape, “After what you’ve been through? Bad idea.”
She slides her small hand into mine, “That’s different Hunter. I trust you. You would never hurt me. Although, I’d prefer no chains.”
