Mia gives him a sad glance, “Good luck.”

I know Willow doesn’t like him to get involved in anything we do. Under normal circumstances, I’d tell him to stay home. I can’t do that when my family’s lives are on the line. No matter how upset she gets, I need him.

We wait at the van for Max. When he comes out, he looks irritated, but I don’t question it. Once we’re all in the van, Max begins to drive.

“We should probably take care of her father before we go. I don’t want him contacting Joey.”

I laugh, “He’s tied to a weight bench.”

Trevor sits beside me and says, “I would’ve killed the fucker.”

“Yeah, I wanted to. I want to find her more.”

He looks at Mia, “I know how terrifying this is from personal experience. I promise you, I’m going to get her out of there. I swear it.”

I sigh, “Yeah, but will it be before or after she loses my baby?”

“Was this intentional?”

“The baby?” I ask.

He nods.

“Yeah, I knew the second I got her back I wanted to put a baby in her. She was always supposed to be mine. We were always meant to have a family together.”

I nod to Mia, “Are you guys going to have kids?”

He shakes his head, “I don’t know. Probably not.”

That’s too bad, because I know Trevor wants kids. He always said if he ever found the right woman, he wanted a family. So, this is obviously her decision.

I speak low so she doesn’t hear me, “She’s young. She’ll probably change her mind.”

“I don’t know.”

I let it go at that point because this is obviously a sore spot for him.

I’m ready to climb out of my fucking skin. All I can do is keep thinking about what they’re doing to her. Some of these trafficking rings don’t allow the women to be touched before auction. Some begin breaking the women before they’re bought. I’m not sure how much more she can take of the brutality. Hitting them is obviously acceptable.

I look at Trevor, “The way her head hit the floor has me worried fucking sick.”

He gives me a sympathetic glance, “I know man. I know. Max arranged for the doctor to meet us there tonight.”

I knew he would but fuck, the auction is tomorrow. She could be fucking dead by then. When I get her back, I’m going to keep them both safe. Fuck. She’s having my baby. The second her divorce is final, I’m marrying her.

Max looks in the rearview mirror at us, “You’ll need to somehow make her realize she needs to act afraid of you.”

Trevor nods, “I know. I got it. I’ll get her out without issues.”

We finally get to the airport and Max parks the van.

“Commercial?”

Max says, “Chartered.”

We all walk quietly to the hangar. Once we are on board and take a seat Max calls to the flight attendant, “Get this man a whiskey please.”

She brings me my drink, “Thank you.”
