I glance at Max, and he laughs, “Have you fucked her before?”
Shaking my head, I roll my eyes at him.
Contrary to popular belief, there are women I haven’t fucked.
“Trevor gets her. Then what?”
Max looks up from his phone, “He will bring her to you at the hotel. The doctor will be there to check her out. Also, I’ve told him to secure a portable ultrasound machine so we can make sure junior is okay.”
I arch an eyebrow, “Junior?”
“Were you hoping for a girl?”
Jesus. This is shit I never thought about.
“In this world? I’d rather a boy.”
Max nods emphatically, “I get that.”
“Do you know yet what you and Willow are having?”
His lips turn up into the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on his face, “Another boy.”
“Congratulations.”
Nobody has congratulated me on the baby, and I know why. They are waiting to find out if my baby is dead. They don’t want to pump me up to just find out he or she is no longer alive.
CHAPTER THIRTY
HUNTER
The Next Day…
Last night was the hardest night of my life. Knowing she’s somewhere in this city with God only knows what happening to her, nearly killed me. I didn’t sleep. I haven’t eaten even though I’ve been bitched at constantly about it. I’ll eat when I know if Jade is okay. Trevor is getting ready to go, and I’m going crazy.
“Where’s the camera?”
He points to the fourth button on his shirt, “Right here.”
I sigh as I run my hands through my hair, “Get her back. Please.”
Placing his hand on my shoulder, he says, “I will. Max has the camera set up on the laptop in the bedroom.”
“You’ll text me when you’re leaving?”
He shakes his head no, “Sorry man. Can’t risk them seeing it. We don’t know enough about his operation.”
When he leaves, I go sit in front of the laptop. I know it’s going to be a while, but I don’t want to miss anything. I need to see her and know she’s okay.
Max comes in, “Dr. Ellie is here. She’s setting up in the extra bedroom.”
I nod, “I’m just watching because I want to see her.”
He walks by and pats my back, “I know.”
I’m alone when the video starts. My heart starts pounding a mile a minute.
