“New territory for all of us,” she agreed, her eyes flicking between mine, a shared understanding passing between us. “This is scary, but as long as I know I have you, Grey, I’ll be okay.”

I studied her face, noting the vulnerability that lay beneath her usual determination. It was clear that Remi, too, was struggling with the complexity of our situation. “I’ve got you, Rems.”

She smiled shyly at me before taking a sip of her coffee. “It seems daring to think we could make something crazy like that work.” A flicker of anxiety crossed her face. “And I’m not a daring person.”

My thoughts drifted back to the night before. The memory of entwined limbs and heated gasps filled my mind — the sensation of Ghost’s touch mingled with Remi’s as they brought me to the brink of ecstasy. It had been a night of raw passion and unparalleled intimacy, leaving me breathless and aching for more.

Whatever the future held for Ghost, Remi, and me, one thing was certain — I wanted them both, and I would do everything in my power to make our unconventional relationship work, no matter the obstacles we faced.

“Remi,” I said, placing her hand in mine, “I know things are complicated with Ghost, but I want you to know that no matter what happens, I love you.”

“I love you too, Greyson,” she whispered, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “More than I ever thought possible. I was scared when you said you needed some space to figure things out because I couldn’t understand what you were trying to tell me. I truly understand now. You have a certain connection with Ghost. We both do. And it’s not just sexual. It’s something more. It’s love.”

Her words resonated within me, stirring a swell of emotion that threatened to overflow. My own love for her was undeniable, a force that seemed to grow stronger each day.

I leaned over the table to press a tender kiss to her lips. “You’re my rock, Remi, just as I’ll always be yours.”

With that, we returned our focus to our meal, comforted by the knowledge that despite the uncertainties lurking ahead, we were united in our desire to explore the depths of our intertwined hearts with Ghost.

We finished our breakfast in comfortable silence. I paid the bill and then we left the restaurant, our fingers entwined.

“So what now?” Remi asked.

The future loomed before us, fraught with uncertainty and the promise of uncharted desires.

“Now, I’ll give Ghost some space.” I stopped, turning to face her. “You try to be there for him while he works through all of this. When you’re back in L.A. next week, we focus on us. If Ghost is interested in something more, he’ll know where to find us.”

“You’re right.” Remi smiled, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear. “I’m ready for that. For us. No more waiting.”

My heart swelled. “Good. Because you’re the best damn thing that’s ever happened to me, Remi Sutton, and I don’t intend to waste another second we could be spending together.”

Remi laughed, throwing her arms around my neck. Her lips found mine, her kisses like fire, burning away any remaining doubts and lighting a blaze of passion that I knew would never be extinguished. Luckily, we were bundled up in winter jackets and hats, so no one was likely to recognize me and ruin our private moment.

We pulled apart, and I grabbed her small hand, lacing our fingers together as we walked along the sidewalk.

As happy as I was, I wished Ghost was here with us. It would feel complete. But I couldn’t make him love me.

Ghost had his demons to face, his path to forge. But Remi and I had found our way to each other, and together, we would build a love to stand the test of time. The future was uncertain, but of one thing I was sure — my heart was hers, now and always.

Chapter 24

Ghost

The air in the back of the tour bus was thick and humid, heavy with the scent of sex and sweat. Our limbs were tangled together under the rumpled sheets, Remi’s head resting on my chest as I traced my fingers along the curve of her spine, her warm breath on my chest lulling me into a sense of tranquility that had been absent for so long.

We’d been wrapped up in our own little world for the past week, coming up for air only for soundcheck or for me to perform on stage. The rest of the time, I couldn’t keep my hands off her, craving the escape she offered me from the numbness that had ruled my life for so long.

Remi’s fingers danced across my chest, drawing lazy circles around my tattoo. “Again? God, you’re insatiable.”

“Only with you,” I admitted, feeling a mix of fear and excitement at this newfound vulnerability. It was as if she had unlocked something within me, and the numbness that had been my constant companion was slowly retreating.

“Is it always like this for you? This ... intense?” she asked, tilting her head up to meet my gaze, curiosity in her eyes.

“Never,” I confessed, pulling her closer to me, not wanting a single inch of space between our bodies. “I’ve never felt this connected to someone before. You’re the only one who’s ever made me feel so ... alive.”

“Wow,” she whispered, her eyes searching mine for any hint of insincerity. But all she found was the raw truth, bared for her and only her. “I never expected anything like this, Ghost.”

“Neither did I,” I admitted, my heart pounding in my chest at the thought of how deeply entwined our lives had become in such a short amount of time. “I don’t want this to end.”
