I recrossed my legs to quench the fire between my thighs.

Liam

The panicin her eyes receded quickly. This woman had a deep well of confidence, as she should have. Her eyes left her drink, and she scanned me, taking my measure.

I’d gone to the bar tonight to ponder the food-division problem Josh and I had gotten ourselves into. It was screwing up our performance metrics big time. The undercurrent of my last several conversations with our lead investor, Syd Kovar, had made it clear his patience would wear thin before long, and it could cost us the company in the end if we didn’t fix things.

The situation didn’t sit well with me. Josh had suggested the strategy, but I’d bought into it, which made it a joint idea. So it was our problem to rectify together.

But sitting across the table from luscious Amy, the food division receded quickly to a tomorrow issue.

If I couldn’t get into her pants tonight, she was hot enough to deserve a second attempt, and merely the memory of her pale green eyes framed by long, dark hair would be all I needed to jack off tonight if that’s what it came to.

“We established that I’m not from around here. What about you?” I asked.

She looked down at her drink shyly before answering. “Grew up in the western part of the state and moved here after Brown for work.”

“But you don’t have a New England accent either.”

“I work to avoid it. I’m in marketing, and I find it easier to talk with people across the country if I avoid the accent.”

“That’s very astute of you.”

She blushed. “Thank you.”

I’d had Russ freshen up my Macallan and took another sip of the smooth amber liquid. “Who do you do marketing for?”

She stirred her margarita. “Oh, just a company a friend and I started.”

She didn’t seem to realize how big an achievement that was. It seemed more like she was ashamed of it.

“You sound like an amazing woman to have accomplished that.”

She tucked stray hair behind one ear. “Does that kind of line usually work for you?”

Women normally found me quite smooth——at least that’s what I’d thought. “I meant it.”

“I get that you’re trying to get me in bed. I do. But you can’t possibly know if I’m amazing or not after two sentences.”

She was completely unfiltered. Completely refreshing. “Well, you’re right about me wanting to seduce you. But Brown’s not an easy place to get in to is all I meant.”

She smiled. “Are you always this complimentary, Liam?”

“Only with a woman who deserves it. Starting your own company is quite a feat.”

An immediate blush reddened her cheeks. Her smile as she played with the ends of her hair was totally disarming. I hadn’t been this unnerved by a woman in a very long time.

“What if I come home with you…” she said before puckering her lips to sip on her straw.

The sentence alone jerked my cock fully to attention.

“And,” she continued, “I turn out to be a disappointment?”

With that face and her body, it didn’t seem possible. Not even remotely. I had stock answers to most women’s questions, but hers stumped me for a second.

She stood. “Don’t answer that. Let’s go.”
