I’d decided I could find a way to give Natalie work that wouldn’t compromise us with Winterbourne, or maybe I’d even give her false information to feed her husband. I wasn’t sure how to implement this approach yet, but perhaps it could work to my advantage to have Damien’s wife as a conduit for misinformation. And then I could keep my promise——even though I’d made it without having all the information I needed.

Amy turned to face me. “Her husband didn’t even know about our meeting——he doesn’t even want her to work. She’s not trying to pull one over on me——or you. She wouldn’t do that.”

“Stop.” I shushed her with a raised finger. “I should have been more considerate.”

“Ya think?” she shot back.

“Hold on,” I told her. “I’m not sorry for looking out for my company, but I admit I didn’t think of how it would affect you.” I pulled her into a hug. “I’ll find a way to make it work for you and your friend.” Her warmth comforted me.

She hugged me tightly, her head on my shoulder. “Thank you. And I didn’t know who her husband was. Maybe we should find some work for her at Tiffany’s.”

“No need. I’ll call her tomorrow,” I said, rubbing Amy’s back. “I can make it work——maybe even to my advantage.” I waggled my eyebrows.

She rolled her eyes, but rose up to kiss me, our lips meeting and expressing our regrets in the physical way only an intimate kiss can. The scent of cherry in her hair calmed me as she deepened the kiss and let me back into her heart.

Our hands moved over one another.

She threaded her fingers into my hair.

I grabbed a handful of ass and pulled her into the growing bulge in my pants. I traced the underside of her breast.

She broke away. “I’m starving. Dinner first, please.”

My hunger ran in a different direction. There would be plenty of time for dinner after I quenched my thirst for her. Ate my fill, as it were. I tried unsuccessfully to stifle a chuckle at the thought.

“What’s so funny?” she asked with a quizzical look.

“Just thinking about the menu.” I glanced down to her crotch.

“You’re incorrigible.” She swatted me on the shoulder. “Your lady said please.”

I couldn’t argue with that. “Okay, dinner first.”

The corners of her mouth turned up with that disarming smile of hers. “And thank you for helping my friend.”

I took her hand and led her into the kitchen. “No thanks needed. It’s the gentlemanly thing to do. Wine?”

She giggled. “Not without pizza.”

This was a twist. “Sure you wouldn’t rather have real food?”

“I don’t feel like cooking tonight. I just want to sit with you and talk. Could you call and get us the meatiest one they have? I didn’t have anything substantial for lunch.”

“Pizza. You sure are lowering your standards for me.”

“A girl’s got a right to change her mind now and then. I’ll be back on the straight and narrow tomorrow.”

I called for the pizza, and she went to change, returning in a T-shirt and running shorts.

“Can we take an evening stroll on the Common while we’re waiting?”

Seeing her legs, I was more interested in diving between them than walking across to the Common, and my cock had its own thoughts as well.

“You look lovely tonight. Did I tell you that?”

She slapped my shoulder. “Cut that out. I asked if we could take a walk.”

“Sure, if that’s what you’d like.”
