“I love you too, angel,” I say, kissing her hair. We fall asleep in each other’s arms, content and satisfied. Ella has shattered my world and thawed out my cold heart. Love does exist. It just took this angel to come into my life and make me believe it.

EPILOGUE

ELLA

Two years later…

I stand barefoot on a stunning Hawaiian beach dressed in a simple, flowing white dress. My stomach is big and round as I’m five months pregnant with our child. It took a little convincing, but Remy finally agreed to make my dreams come true, and we’re having a baby.

I fiddle with the angel pendant around my neck. The pendant my dad bought me for my eleventh birthday. After some therapy, I got the courage to open the gift, which gave me closure. I always wear it now.

The ocean waves gently crash into the shore, providing a calming rhythm to this momentous occasion. Remy stands before me, his sun-kissed skin glowing against the setting sun, looking as gorgeous as the day I first saw him.

The guilt I’d initially felt about being with him has disappeared. I know Mom never loved him. He was her meal ticket. My love for him has only deepened in the two years since Remy got rid of Alex. He’s pushed me to continue writing, and I’ve had three hit novels in those two years.

If it weren’t for him and his belief in me, I’d still be stuck in a cycle of self-doubt.

The officiant tells us it’s time for our vows, and Remy squeezes my hands. “Ella, since we met, you’ve completely captivated me. You became my obsession, and while it wasn’t always easy, I’m so glad we made it here. I keep falling in love with you, over and over again, every single day. I promise always to cherish and respect you, to take care of you and keep you safe, to be there for you and our family, and to support and encourage you. I want to be with you until the day I die.”

A lump forms in my throat as I respond, “Remy, you’re my soul mate. I knew it the moment we met, even if our circumstances were a bit fucked up.”

That earns a laugh from our guests.

“But I promise to always be there for you through the good and bad times. I promise to share life’s happiest moments and toughest challenges with you. I promise to love and treasure you for as long as we live.”

The officiant raises his hands, beaming. “By the powers vested in me and witnessed by all those here today, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may seal your vows with a kiss.”

Tears glisten in my eyes as Remy pulls me in for a passionate kiss. Desire ignites the moment his hands are on me.

Remy pulls away from the kiss, his eyes sparkling. “I love you, angel,” he whispers.

“I love you too,” I respond.

As the words leave our lips, Remy’s family erupts in applause.

Ronan is five now, and he rushes up to me in his cute pageboy outfit and hugs me. “I’m so glad I’ve got a step-grandma and a step-aunt.”

Remy and I chuckle as it’s hard to explain to him that I’m no longer his step-aunt.

Mia approaches, smiling. “Just know, I’m not going to call you mommy.”

I laugh, hugging her. “I should hope not.”

Luca smirks. “I might.” He winks, which earns him a clap on the back of his head from Remy.

Thankfully, he’s only messing about as he’s found his forever person, too. And even Leo is in a committed relationship now, something no one ever thought would happen, but I guess everyone has to grow up at some point.

Leo approaches me, eyes narrowing. “Congrats, Ella.” He tilts his head. “It was obvious you always had eyes for Dad.”

He did pick up on it early on. Camila has been the most reserved and judgmental of our match, but I don’t think it’s entirely because of our relationship. It doesn’t help that her relationship with her dad is strained, anyway. Her husband, Gavril, is here. It’s one of the few times I’ve met him. He’s quiet and a little creepy, if I’m honest.

Paisley approaches and hugs me. “Congratulations.” She holds her swelling stomach. “I can’t believe our due dates are the same.”

I chuckle. “I know. What are the odds?”

“Probably quite high considering the number of babies made a year and the fact there are only three hundred and sixty-five days a year,” Massimo says.
