I was so happy for them when IVF finally worked. Seeing how much it hurt Paisley over the last two years was heartbreaking. Once we finally met, we hit it off. Paisley joins Mia and me for drinks and dinner regularly. I don’t know what I’d do without them.

Paisley glares at her husband. “Whatever. I think it’s cool. Hopefully, we both go into labor at the same time.”

“Unlikely,” Remy says.

We both glare at him.

“What?” He shrugs. “The statistics say that most babies aren’t born on their due date.”

Paisley and I both shake our heads. “We can’t even have a drink,” Paisley says, sighing heavily. “But we can get some food. I’m starving.”

I smile and nod. “Yeah, let’s get to the restaurant.”

Remy squeezes my hand as we walk alongside his son and daughter-in-law. We booked a nice little restaurant on the beach. The whole place is dedicated to our small party.

The sea-salt-infused air melds with the tantalizing aroma of freshly grilled fish and aromatic spices, a mouthwatering scent I can almost taste in the air.

“I must admit, I’m starving too.”

Remy leans toward me to whisper in my ear. “Me too, but not for food...”

I whack his chest. “Behave.” Even as I try to ignore his words, my thighs clench. I’m hungry for him, but we’ve got guests and need to eat something before we lock ourselves away in the honeymoon suite.

Remy and I sit in our seats next to Massimo and Paisley. The servers bring the first course, a platter of Poke, a traditional Hawaiian dish. Fresh cubes of ahi tuna served on a bed of warm jasmine rice.

My stomach rumbles at the sight of it.

“This looks delicious,” Paisley says.

Both mine and Paisley’s are grilled tuna since we can’t eat raw fish while pregnant.

“Dig in,” I say. Everyone starts to eat, chatting softly amongst themselves.

I gaze across the table at Remy, and my heart swells as he stares at me as if I’m the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen.

“I’m so glad you guys chose Hawaii for your wedding. It’s beautiful here, “Mia announces.

I arch a brow. “Well, we did have a lot of persuasion from someone.”

She chuckles, knowing we wouldn’t have picked Hawaii without her begging us to. Granted, she has good taste in wedding venues. The island and resort she picked are beautiful.

Luca clears his throat. “I’d like to say a toast.”

Remy shakes his head. “We’d prefer if you didn’t.”

Everyone laughs, and Luca places a hand over his chest mockingly as if hurt. “I’ll pretend you didn’t say that to your favorite son.”

Remy rolls his eyes.

“I just want to say that while it’s pretty fucking weird that my stepsister is now my mommy.” He winks at me, and I shake my head. “I’m so glad Dad has found someone he truly loves.” His expression sobers. “It’s been a long road to this point, losing our mom and then getting cancer, but I’m glad you survived to meet your soul mate.”

He lifts his glass. “To the bride and groom.”

Tears build behind my eyelids at his words. It’s a short but beautiful speech.

“To the bride and groom.” Everyone repeats and lifts their glasses.

I catch Remy’s intense gaze on me as he stands to speak, too. “Thank you, son. I appreciate it.”
