Cash has been actingweird all day.

All week, he’s been under a lot of stress leading up to the grand reopening of Snug’s Landing.

Understandably so. The construction of our house on Paradise Lane is close to finished, and all the last-minute details have been dogging him as well. I don’t mind living in the little cabin with just the two of us, but I know he’s antsy to get out of there and settle in a proper home.

But today, something feels off, and I’m worried about him.

Going up to him an hour before doors open for dinner, I see Cash going over his checklist for the tenth time today and scraping a hand through his hair. He does that when he’s freaking out. So, I ask one more time what I can do to help.

“Babe, please let me take some of the burden off you,” I say. “My book was released two days ago, and I’m taking the rest of the weekend off to rest and recuperate until I go to my signing in New York next week. I’m all yours.”

Cash looks up at me, and instantly, the hard look in his eyes softens. Still, he refuses to give me a job to do. Instead, he pulls me in for a big, warm, messy kiss. My favorite. “I love you, Caroline.”

I laugh, peck his chin with another kiss, and say, “While I’m happy you keep saying that every time I ask if you need help, I’m starting to get worried about you. Are you feeling okay?”

“Yep, everything’s fine. I’m fine. The restaurant’s fine. Now, go home and relax until I call you.”

“Ooh, I like it when you’re bossy.”

“Not now, Caroline,” he says, the stress showing up once again in his strained voice.

“Oh, on the contrary, I think you need me…to take the stress off.” Leaning in close to him behind the bar so no one else can see, I cup his balls. Gently. But firmly.

Cash sucks his breath in through his teeth. “Dammit, woman.”

“Wanna christen the brand new bathroom stalls with me?”

He lets out an angry growl but doesn’t say no.

Finally, he cups my head and murmurs hastily in my ear. “Meet me in the restroom in five. I have a call to make, and then I’m yours.”

Finally, I have a job to do.

Five minutes later, I’m buzzing with anticipation until finally I hear the restroom door open.

“Now, where is that evil woman in the pink sundress?” I hear him say.

I watch as his feet make their way down the line of stalls, pausing to push open each door. After what feels like hours, he reaches the stall where I’m waiting.

He pushes the door open, his eyes fierce like a tiger. I’m wet just at the sight of him.

“Hi.”

“Turn around and put your hands on the tile. And spread your legs. I gotta make this quick.”

I have no choice but to plant each leg on either side of the sparkling new toilet for this to work, which might be the dirtiest thing I’ve ever done.

Cash wastes no time lifting the skirt of my dress and finding my soaked center with his other hand. “Shit, how are you so ready at a moment’s notice.”

I glance at him over my shoulder and blink innocently. “Because I’ve been trying to get your attention all week, that’s how.”

“Don’t have time for foreplay, baby.”

“Me neither. I need you right now, husband.”

With a fierce snarl, he’s on me, his chest pressed against my back, his fingers opening me up to take him in.
