She put her hands back on his shoulders and they started dancing again. He could barely contain his excitement. He wanted to tell his brothers, Keaton, his mom. Hell, he wanted to get on the P.A. system and announce it to the whole town. But he understood why that wasn’t the right thing to do.
But he could do this.
“I love you,” he whispered against her head. He was pretty sure he knew how she felt but he still hadn’t heard her say it.
She lifted her head and the look in her eyes told him everything he needed to know. But it was still nice to hear it when she said, “I love you, too.”
His hands ran up and down her back as he pulled her tighter to him. “Do you remember when you told me you weren’t asking me for forever?”
She nodded.
“Well, I’m not asking you to marry me,yet, but I am asking you for tonight, and the next night, and the night after that, and I am asking you for forever.”
She smiled up at him, scrunching her nose. “I mean, forever is a long time.”
He started tickling her and her head fell back laughing.
When she straightened back up her blue-green eyes were twinkling.
“You’re a brat,” he teased her.
“Yeah, but I’m your brat.”
“Yep, you’re my brat.Mine.”
A sweet smile lifted at the corner of her lips. “Forever.”
“Forever.”
