“Well, that was exciting,” Aunt Meg said breathlessly as the long sleek car pulled into traffic.

“You know tomorrow they’re going to say we’re dating,” Carter said to her.

She grinned. “Well, it might suck for you, but that’ll be the coolest thing to ever happen to me.”

She and Carter cracked up, as if they had some kind of inside joke.

“How the fuck did they find out?” Zeke glared at Carter. “Who did you tell, man? I asked you not to say anything. This was important to me.”

“Hey, don’t look at me. I didn’t tell a soul!” He held up his hands. “Not even when King interrogated me about why I was going out of town.”

“Babe?” He turned his gaze to me. “It’s okay if you told someone, but I need to get in front of this. Dorian is going to have my ass for not giving her the chance to do a press release.”

“I swear,” I said. “The only person I told was Aunt Meg.”

“It was me.” Aunt Meg hung her head. “I’m so sorry. I never dreamed my Eye-Lights followers would put two and two together. I edited a few seconds of video of Presley trying on those dresses… I figured people would speculate, and since the plan was to be engaged when you get home, I honestly assumed they would think she was dress shopping for a future wedding, not actually getting married on the spot.”

“Ah, hell, Meg.” Zeke shook his head, clearly exasperated.

“You have a lot of followers, Meg-let,” Carter said to her.

“Meg-let?” I mouthed to Zeke. His eyes crinkled as he gave me a little shrug.

“Well, what’s done is done.” Zeke was all business. “I have to call Dorian because this will be news very quickly.”

“But how did they find out where we were going to be?” I asked, though it was mostly rhetorical.

“The press lives for this shit,” Zeke told me. “They’re like super spies when it comes to finding us if they have even an inkling of a newsworthy story.”

“I guess it’s water under the bridge,” I said. “Now we have to focus on what we’ll tell people.”

“We have to lie,” Carter said thoughtfully. “To the band and everyone else. We decided to bring Meg to Vegas to celebrate getting a clean bill of health from her doctors. Then we pretend this was a spur-of-the-moment thing. Otherwise, the guys will be hurt and—”

“Not to mention my mother,” Zeke said. “She’s going to have a fit.”

“We have to pinkie swear,” Aunt Meg said, holding out one of hers. “This wasn’t planned. It happened organically.”

Zeke looked at her like she was offering him something disgusting, but Carter didn’t hesitate to wrap his pinkie around hers, so I nudged Zeke.

“Come on. Pinkie swear and get it over with.”

“Fine.” The four of us linked pinkies just as Zeke’s phone rang.

“Aurora,” I said, reading the name on the screen. “Well, that didn’t take long.”

“Here we go.” He put his phone to his ear. “Hey, Aurora.”

Instead of a quiet, romantic post-wedding dinner, it turned into a circus. The press followed the limo, so even though the restaurant wouldn’t allow them inside, they knew where we were. Once some of the guests inside the restaurant recognized Zeke and Carter, it became a free-for-all. Eventually, the restaurant manager had to get involved because fans and curious onlookers wouldn’t let us eat.

“Christ, I’m sorry,” Zeke whispered to me.

“It’s okay.” It wasn’t, but what choice did I have?

“Did you bring your laptop with you?” Carter asked as we got back into the limo.

I nodded. “Yes. Why?”
