“By the powers vested in me by the State of Nevada, I pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride.”

Zeke bent his head and our lips touched.

And just like that, I was married.

Mrs. William Zerkesian.

Holy shit.

Myriad emotions whipped through me as he gently cupped the side of my face and a tiny flicker of doubt hit my subconscious.

What had I just agreed to?

What were we doing?

Marriage was supposed to be a lifetime commitment, but he hadn’t even told me he loved me. It felt like we’d rushed into a monumental decision, yet deep down, it still felt like I’d made the right one. As he’d said this morning, there had been a connection from the start. There weren’t words to accurately describe the intensity of our feelings, so maybe that was why we hadn’t articulated them with the words ‘I love you.”

I did love him, though.

Maybe I was being a romantic fool, but how could I not? It hadn’t been love at first sight but pretty damn close. Now I was his wife. And he was my husband.

“Congratulations.” Aunt Meg’s eyes were filled with tears as she hugged me. “I’m so happy for you.”

“Thank you.” I hugged her tightly.

“Let’s go eat,” Carter said after he’d hugged me and shook Zeke’s hand.

“Let’s do it.” Zeke wrapped his hand around mine and we walked out toward the waiting limo.

We were immediately assaulted by camera flashes and a mob of reporters.

“Oh, fuck.” Zeke pulled me closer to his side.

“Big Z! Did you get married?”

“Who’s your wife, Z?”

“Carter, were you the best man?”

“Is she pregnant?”

“About a year too late for that,” I murmured under my breath.

Zeke chuckled. “Come on, guys. Don’t crowd us like this. You want a statement, I need you to respect a little personal space. You see my aunt has a cane. If she falls, someone’s going to jail.”

To my surprise, they immediately backed up a few feet.

Zeke seemed to command respect and he looked every ounce the strong, confident celebrity he was as he slid an arm around my waist. “Yes, we got married. This is my wife, Presley. And you better be nice to her going forward.”

“How long have you been dating?” someone called out.

“On and off for a little over a year.”

That was a lie, but how would anyone know?

“Is it true you have a son together?”

“Yes.” I felt Zeke stiffen, but his smile didn’t waver, and he answered a handful of other questions before lifting a hand. “Listen, we got married in Vegas to avoid this kind of fanfare. Now we’ve got dinner reservations, so we have to go. Thanks, guys.” He guided me closer to the limo and the waiting driver, who quickly opened the door. Zeke pushed me inside, while Carter helped Aunt Meg, and finally, the doors locked behind us.
