“Can he be trusted to keep his mouth shut?”

“I think so? Obviously, he’s heard about the porn stuff, so it stands to reason he’s put two and two together to add up to Devyn potentially not coming.”

“And if she bails completely?” I couldn’t wrap my head around that, but it had to be said.

“We’re going to have to have a band meeting,” he replied. “Anyway, let’s get downstairs. I’ll see you in the lobby.”

“Right.” I disconnected and grabbed my duffel. We weren’t coming back to the hotel between soundcheck and the show, so I had my stage clothes and anything else I might need.

I itched to call Devyn again, but at this point, if she wasn’t already in London, it was too late.

And I had no one to blame but myself.

If I’d handled things more eloquently the last time I’d seen her, things might actually be okay now.

Instead, I didn’t know what was happening in my personal life and we were embarking on a European tour potentially without a bass player.

How the hell had we gotten to this point?

“Anyone know where Sasha went?” Ross asked as we piled on the tour bus we’d rented. “There’s an issue with the merchandise and I need a copy of the contract.”

“No one’s seen her since we landed,” Z said. “She said she had something to take care of.”

“I think she might be with Devyn,” Tommy said slowly, looking at something on his phone.

“What?” My head snapped up.

“Porn star turned rock star Devyn Cates spotted at London hospital hours before first leg of tour,” he read. “Onyx Knight’s infamous new bassist was seen at the well-known Laramie Hospital in London’s north end. While no official statement has been made about the reason for her visit, an inside source says she was there to have an abortion.”

All eyes turned to me.

“No,” I said firmly, shaking my head. “She’s on birth control, and we used condoms. And even if we had some kind of ridiculous accident, why the hell would she come all the way to London for an abortion? This is ludicrous.”

“Rumor has it that Cates has been involved in an affair with the enigmatic lead singer of the band, Kingston Knight,” Tommy continued to read. “An unnamed member of the band’s entourage confirmed that Knight was unhappy when he discovered her pregnancy and demanded she terminate—”

“What the fuck?” I demanded. “None of that is even in the ballpark of true! God dammit, somebody get Dorian on the phone. And find out who the unnamed source is because whoever they are, they’re fired! I’m done with this shit.” I stomped off the bus the moment it stopped, phone to my ear when I saw Dorian’s name on the screen.

“I’m already on it,” she said by way of greeting.

“These bogus rumors have got to stop,” I said, irritated.

“King, don’t get upset with me,” she said quietly. “But I have to ask. Are you sure? Because if there are hospital records, there’s only so much I can do to hide those. The UK has their own privacy laws, but this isn’t the States and the tabloids here get away with a lot.”

I nearly growled with frustration. “No, I’m not a hundred percent sure, but why would she come here to do it? It makes no sense. She could have—” I cut off abruptly as Ross whistled to get everyone’s attention. “I’ll call you back,” I told her.

“Five minutes to soundcheck. Is Mick here?”

“No, but I am.” Devyn came walking down the hall looking windblown and flushed, but she didn’t look like a woman who’d just had a medical procedure.

“Thank fucking god.” Ross motioned to Noah. “Make sure she’s set up and let’s get going. Some of our equipment was damaged during the flight so I need you guys to tell me what’s what. Check everything. Guitars, cords, amps—we need to test it all before the gig.”

Before I could get to Devyn, she’d pivoted and was now talking to Noah as she inspected her eight-string.

I couldn’t wait until after sound check to talk to her, no matter how inconvenient it was.

“Noah, give us a minute, please.” I put a hand on the side of her face the moment he walked away. “Can you answer a question without getting mad? There’s a reason I’m asking, and we don’t have time to hash things out right now.”

“Okay.” She looked wary.
