“Female bits?” he laughed out loud. “No. Regardless, I will have you.”

Yep, crazy as they come. When he grabbed my breast, I almost gagged. The crystal felt warm to my touch. Without thinking further, I gripped it hard and pushed it to his hip, hoping to use it as an icepick to wound him.

What happened next shocked me. The crystal went inside all the way into his body, like he absorbed it. He let out a shocked gasp. I looked at his face. I know it happened in just a few seconds. Everything slowed down so I saw the moment his face turned ashen, his lips turned bluish purple. The veins on his eyes bulged I was afraid his eyeballs will pop out. His body turned gray and hardened like granite. I saw it spread from his eyes then outward down to his torso and legs. His hand, still attached to my chest, tightened so I pushed him away.

Like a leaf, his body swayed backwards then his body shattered into pieces.

I screamed bloody murder.

No.

He was dead.

I killed him.

CHAPTER7

Crystal Power

Brynn

No no no. This was not happening to me. The last time someone got killed, his brother kidnapped me. I knew I should not be thinking how many relatives he has but I’m on a state of panic mode.

His Prussian blue eyes were not turned to me but his body hardened from inside, I can see the severed parts of him are solid. Like a Lego model or figurine with separate body parts.

I shouted some more.

My shout were cut short when a hand grabbed me from behind. The person is now behind me, his back behind the boulder.

“Hush, it’s me,” he whispered close to my ear.

Scarface.

He pushed me further away from the main road. At least I don’t see Lov anymore. We walked while he held me against him, his hand covering half of my face. Then he stopped. He slowly removed his hand while looking at my face with a frown. My heart is galloping at warp speed I’m surprised I haven’t fainted yet.

“I - I k-ki-kill —” I stuttered. He motioned with his hand for me to stop speaking.

He nodded. “What did you use?”

“Ipushedadaclearcrystaltohimthenhedied.” I stopped when he placed his hand to my mouth.

“Clear crystal? Do you still have it?” He asked, his face serious.

I shook my head. It was the only crystal given by the old man. Did he knew I was going to be attacked? Nobody told me these things can kill! Though I should have been more careful. They use crystal to power vehicles for fuck’s sake. Of course simple, harmless looking crystals can kill. I did not want to commit murder.

I feel tears gathering on my eyes but I held them. If I start to cry, I will not stop. I need to know if Scarface will surrender me to my fate. He looked at me and knew he will ask more about that crystal. I don’t want to implicate the old man, who might probably be a psychic or an angel. And me? A murderer. I sobbed.

Unbidden, I grabbed his tunic. A bright clear crystal popped out from his tunic. For a moment, it captured all my attention. There was something about it. A sharp pain made me realized he grabbed my hand while he quickly hid the crystal inside his tunic. Right, who knows what will happen when I touch another crystal again? I felt tears in my eyes.

“Stop,” he pressed my arms tight but not too hard that it won’t leave bruises. I’m surprised he is able to control himself. “I need to know if you were with Zirc and the Silver Tribe’s alpha when the Shura failed. At the South Sector, do you remember?”

I nodded. I wasn’t lying to him or to the others earlier when I told them I was there.

“Many have lied about it and died,” Scarface told me, reading my mind. “It’s important you don’t lie to me - What is your name?”

I forgot. Locals here act first, then ask questions later. Like exchanging names is not the norm.

“Brynn.”
