“Where did you take him?” Brynn turned to me. She looked pale but otherwise, she looked so damn beautiful.

“To the sick bay. We have one here. But first,” I paused and used my tail to pluck the sword from her grip.

“Hey!” she protested. I tossed the bloody sword to the bushes. I knew Coone wasn’t attached to it. I will give him and Brynn better swords.

“Let us wait -”

I did not finish my sentence when Roqs, Sim and Tits materialized in front of us. Sim beat Roqs in knocking me and Brynn over with a tight hug. I hugged him back. Brynn snugly tucked and warm between us.

“Nim,” Roqs glowered at me, his hands fisted tightly at his sides.

I rolled my eyes while Sim chuckled. “Why is everything my fault?” I complained.

“Because it always is.” Roqs stepped forward and plucked Brynn away from us. We both growled.

Roqs visibly inspected Brynn for wounds. “Why the fuck is she bloody? Where are her wounds?”

“I’m here and I’m fine.” Brynn brushed his hands away from her.

“Why are we here?” Roqs asked me.

I closed the distance between me and Sim. “It did not feel right. The enemies were weaker. We expected Kilo’s gang. I felt they expected us to appear right away at Central.” Roqs and Sim knew I had these instincts honed in me since I was old enough to understand why it was happening to me. I couldn’t tell exactly how many times someone tried to assassinate me since I was a toddler. I stopped counting at 10,000.

Sim brushed his tail against mine. Roqs sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

“Oh! Wow!” We heard Brynn’s excited gasp and turned towards her. She was gazing at the Yuzer’s house. “Is Coone here?” she asked me. I nodded.

CHAPTER15

A Servant's House

Nimrod

Brynn looked shocked as he looked at the Yuzer’s house. I had no idea about her background. Which planet did she came from?

Yuzer’s house was located at this part of the mountain’s cliff side, which was similar to other houses which served the Royal families. I think she would love it when she realized what’s on the other side of this building. It overlooked the vast ocean. I shivered involuntarily. I couldn’t understand why he wanted to be so close to the sea. Lakes, I could tolerate. But storm surge during violent thunderstorms? No, thank you.

“It’s a mansion! Who lives here?” she said with awe as we walked towards the big doors. “Oh my god!” The entrance to his house was a small tunnel that ended in large cavern. A river flowed, the water coming from the mountains, towards the open ocean. From where we stood, we could hear the waves move against the rocks. Lights beneath the steps served as illumination. More lights came from the 2-story house. If Brynn thought this was a mansion, I wondered how she would react if she sawmy room?

The sun glinted against Yuzer’s glass walls. From where we stood, we could see inside. He has an open space layout. We could see his sunken living room full of floor pillows, his dining area and kitchen. My lips curved when I saw Brynn placed her face against the glass door, her palms framed around her face to glimpse what’s inside. Note to self, Brynn’s eyes were not sharp like ours.

I grabbed the back of her tunic when the door opened so she won’t fall to her face. Roqs sighed heavily. His face told me this was normal Brynn behavior. Hmm.

We walked inside. Yuzer had assistants but I couldn’t see any of them. Probably busy in the med bay healing Coone.

“Everything here is so modern!” she gasped as she gazed into the sunken living room. Different shades of brown, oranges and red were tossed into the floor. I guess this was his rebellion phase. Being in charge of keeping the Central cleaned and organized, this might be his way of expressing his freedom from serving the Royals. Still, it was organized chaos.

“The view,” she breathed.

What do you know? The view was breath taking. It was only mid-morning. This side of living space showed the open ocean framed in a high rise ceiling glass window. It was nice to view the ocean from here where there is air conditioning to control the temperature. We stepped towards the sunken living room and I watched as Brynn walked straight towards the huge windows.

“Why isheacting like technology is new tohim?” I couldn’t help but ask. Even though it was only me, Sim, Roqs and Brynn here, it is still better to keep her gender a secret. Tits and the other guards would make themselves busy elsewhere.

“I am here,” she said without looking at me. “I saw technology at the Blue Tribe’s alpha and Crix’s lake mansion. But the architecture here. The small details.”

“Where you went,” Roqs said as he took a seat near the windows. “Was only an outpost. The real heart of the Blue Tribe’s place was somewhere else and can rival the grandness of the Purple Tribe.”

He looked so damn relaxed I wanted to ruffle his fur a bit.
