“I’ll give you a number for one of my guys before you leave. He always has the best.”

“Come on,” he coaxed, planting a hand on the counter to keep her from leaving. “You’re really not going to tell me where you’ve been?”

My blood boiled as my gaze dropped to his hand that was preventing her from moving. I could break every bone in his fingers and throw him out before he even knew what was happening. But when I glanced up, my eyes met Rynn’s, and she shot me a look of warning before focusing back on Reese.

“I’ve been working,” she replied. “But it’s good to see you.”

“You were always so evasive,” he murmured, raising his hand and playing with a lock of her hair. “What kind of secrets does a pretty girl like you have?”

“Let us know if you ever find out,” a familiar voice from behind me drawled.

A muscle in my jaw ticked as I spun around, coming face to face with Kian and Jace. I wished I could say I was surprised, but these two were becoming more trouble than I’d anticipated. Jace zeroed in on Rynn and Reese with a scowl on his face, and it took me a second to realize that he was pissed for the same reason I was. He didn’t like another guy touching her. I didn’t fucking like it. I had every intention of claiming Rynn as mine—andonlymine. These two were going to get in my way. But they wouldn’t be a problem anymore if tonight went the way it should.

“Kian, you made it,” Reese said, his shoulder brushing mine as he stepped forward to shake Kian’s hand.

My stomach churned as Kian grinned, greeting Reese as if he was an old friend. I’d figured some of these guys would know Grimrose or the Disciples, but I wasn’t expecting this.

“One of the rules was to keep this game quiet,” Rynn murmured, her smile gone as she came up beside me and glared at Reese. “This is invite only.”

Reese must have heard the change in her voice because he chuckled nervously before explaining in a rush. “Kian called me last week, saying that he was coming to town. I figured he had an invite too.”

My gaze cut to Rynn, shock filling me. Kian had known for at least a week that we were coming here. How the hell did they find that out? Jace’s smirk had heat flaring through my veins. The only thing that held me back was when Rynn grabbed my wrist, keeping me next to her. Kian glanced down, his eyes narrowing as her hand stayed on me.

“You have room for one more at a table?” Jace asked, looking at Rynn.

She stiffened, but her lip lifted in a cold smile. “I’m surprised you want to play one of my games again. The last one didn’t end well for either of you, did it?”

Reese seemed curious as his gaze darted between all of us. “You know each other?”

“We all knowShadow,” Kian said, using Rynn’s street name. “She’s spent some time in Pacific Point with me.”

“For business,” Rynn clarified sharply. “And sorry you came all this way, but the game is full tonight.”

“We’ll stay and watch,” Jace replied casually with a shrug.

“Not happening,” I snarled, losing it when Kian stepped closer toward Rynn. “You can both fuck off.”

“Give us a minute, Reese,” Rynn said in a low voice, dismissing him without looking away from Kian and Jace.

Reese scurried away, leaving us standing in the kitchen. Rynn let go of my arm, getting in Kian’s face.

“You two need to leave,” she demanded. “Before I have you thrown out.”

“Don’t make a scene,” Jace murmured with a grin. “Isn’t that what you told me at the last poker game? It’s just business. How would it look for you to kick us out?”

She waved her arm. “These guys aren’t college students. They’re just as bad as all of us. I have no reason to keep peace.”

Swallowing my annoyance, I wrapped my arm around her, pulling her close to keep my next words between us. “Let them stay. It’ll be easier to keep an eye on them here. And we can make sure they don’t interfere later tonight.”

She gritted her teeth. “Fine. You two can stay. But if you do anything to fuck up my night, you’re out.”

Kian chuckled. “What’s the real reason you’re here? I have a feeling it’s for more than to host a game.”

“Do you know how much money I’m getting just for hosting this game?” she asked sweetly. “You think everything I do has an ulterior motive?”

From the skeptical look on both their faces, that was exactly what they believed. Maybe they were smarter than they looked. I could tell right now that it was going to be an issue. When the Riot Crew had come to back us on campus, I figured Kian and Jace would back off, but they hadn’t. The bigger question plaguing me was why they were doing it. On orders from their gangs? Or because they didn’t want to leave Rynn alone? Most likely both.

“Drinks are in the fridge,” I told them, shooting them a leering smirk. “Stay the fuck out of our way.”
