“Don’t,” Kian warned as if he could read my mind. “You scream, and I’ll gag you.”

His threat had anger rippling through me, but I shot him a devious smirk. “I thought you liked hearing me scream. In fact, last time you fucked me, you pretty much demanded I do it.”

The guy’s head shot up, his eyes darting between Kian and me as he lost interest in the laptop for a second. Kian’s eyes flashed with surprise at my words before he stalked closer, grasping my chin tight enough that I couldn’t pull away.

“I love that I made such an impression that you still think about it,” he murmured, his lips lifting in a half grin. “But that will have to wait until I fix the mess you made. Because I’m not leaving campus. But I have to admit, this was a good try.”

I narrowed my eyes. “Was the warning the Riot Crew gave you not good enough? You’re supposed to stay away from me. Not interfere.”

“Their words were to stay away from you oncampus.” His hold tightened on my jaw. “We’re nowhere near Little Haven right now.”

“What?” the guy sputtered out, shooting to his feet, the computers forgotten. “Are you fucking serious?”

Kian dropped his hand from my face before turning around. I shifted to the side, peering past Kian to see worry passing over the guy’s features. I studied him curiously as he ran a hand through his blond hair while glaring at Kian.

“I came to help Jace, not get in the middle of your territory bullshit. If V—” He cut himself off, glancing at me. “She’s going to flip shit if she finds out. She’s best friends with the crew’s girl.”

Kian frowned, shooting me a look before moving closer to the guy. Apparently, he didn’t want me hearing their conversation. Sucks for him—he shouldn’t have trapped me in a small bathroom. My interest was more than piqued, and I leaned forward, wanting to hear every word.

“You’re here because your gang owes Jace a favor,” Kian nearly whispered. “This has nothing to do with her. The Riot Crew is protecting Rynn. I’m not here to hurt her. I’m here to make sure I’m able to stay on campus. What she’s doing is threatening that. Once this is done, she’s free to go.”

“I don’t think the crew will be happy to hear this,” I sang out, fully wanting to plant more doubt. Maybe then the guy wouldn’t help. “You should probably leave before you make it worse on yourself.”

The guy looked ready to listen until Kian stepped in the way, blocking my view. “If you don’t do this, then I’ll have to keep her until I find someone who can. The crew will be more pissed about that.”

“Fuck,” the guy muttered. “Fine.”

He dropped to the floor, opening my laptop and then hooking a cord to it before connecting it to his tablet. Fear slithered through me, creating a pit in my stomach as I watched him typing quickly. This entire plan rested on that fucking video, and now it was going to be in Kian’s hands. This was about more than just unseating the dean. It had to do with everything about taking over Little Haven.

“How pissed is your boss going to be?” Kian asked quietly as he studied me. “I bet this was a big job. You can always blame it on Gage.”

I didn’t answer, my focus on the guy who was holding my laptop. Ellie was going to be furious. Not that she’d take it out on me. But it would cause a lot more work for us. Kian waited a few more moments, and when I stayed silent, he shook his head and pulled out his phone.

“I got the video,” the guy announced after what seemed like forever. “It was sent to the laptop from the phone. And she had it set to automatically save to the cloud once the laptop was on Wi-Fi again, but I stopped it. No one else has seen it. I sent it to Jace and you. You want me to delete it off everything else now?”

“Kian, don’t do this,” I pleaded, my heart thudding. “Jennings is a piece of shit. He deserves this.”

“That’s true,” Kian mused. “But he’s also the reason Jace and I are still on campus. You blackmail him, and we’ll be out on our asses right after.”

“I’ll let you stay,” I promised frantically. “You can stay in Little Haven.”

“Sorry, Rynn,” he muttered after a few seconds. “I can’t trust you. I don’t believe that.” He nodded at the guy. “Delete it.”

“No,” I shrieked, trying to pull my wrists free. “The crew is going to be pissed when they find out you helped do this. I might not know your name, but I fucking promise I’ll find out. You don’t want to make an enemy here.”

Kian darted forward, grabbing me and pinning me between him and the wall. His hand gripped my wrists, forcing me to keep still.

“You’re going to cut up your wrists. Stop moving,” he gritted out, his breath hitting my hair as he crowded me before glancing over his shoulder. “Do it so we can leave.”

I watched helplessly as the guy hit a few more buttons before closing my laptop. He started packing his stuff up, and I sagged against Kian, wondering how the hell I was going to fix this in time. Kian pulled out a knife, slicing the zip tie and freeing me. I shoved him away, rubbing my wrists as I glared daggers at him.

“There was nothing else on her phone or the laptop,” the guy stated. “She brought it just for this job.”

“The phone is a burner?” Kian asked, his eyes not leaving me.

“Yeah.”

“Trying to find out all my secrets?” I stalked across the bathroom and snagged up my bag and my phone. “You’ll have to try harder than that.”
