I pursed my lips, still wondering if I’d just made a mistake. I didn’t want to involve him or Jace any more than I had to. Actually, I wanted nothing to do with them, but I had a feeling that was impossible while on campus with them.

“But to do that, then I’m going to be around her,” he continued with a growing smirk. “Walking her to class. Hanging out here in her dorm. You want my help, then get used to seeing me.”

My glare turned murderous as he took a drink of my tequila. I never should have fucking said anything. He was going to use this to get closer to her. I really should have seen that coming.

But if it kept Rynn safer, then dealing with him would be worth it.

“Gage, don’t.”

Rynn’s quiet voice stirred me from sleep, and I instinctively tightened my hold on her waist when her scent invaded my nose. I wasn’t sure what time it was, but as the night rushed back into my head, I remembered falling asleep in her bed after everything. Seeing as I was holding her, that meant I was still in her bed. My body was aching, especially where they’d tattooed my back, but all the pain was far away as I pressed her body against mine.

“Either he gets out of your bed on his own, or I fucking make him,” Gage snapped. “I finally got Kian to leave. I was nice—I waited for you to wake up. You’re up. Time for him to go.”

“This isn’t your room,” she retorted in a whisper. “It’s mine. You have no say over who sleeps inmybed.”

I kept my eyes closed, smugness filling me when Rynn stayed curled into me. I wasn’t sure if she was actually defending me or trying to get under Gage’s skin, but either way, I was going to take advantage of it. I was still pissed about what happened last night, but I couldn’t exactly hate him for it. He was protecting Rynn. It made me wonder what I would have done in his position. Still didn’t mean I had to like him, though.

“Rynn,” he warned, sounding like he was losing his last shred of patience. “Do not fucking push me right now. I backed you to keep him breathing. And now I’m in the shithouse because of it. The last thing I want is to see him in bed with you.”

I moved slowly, letting my hand trail down her stomach while keeping my arm around her. She was still wearing the small top and skirt from last night, and I skimmed my fingers over her bare skin right above the waistband of the skirt. She froze, and I buried my face in the crook of her neck, lightly kissing her.

“The last thing?” I questioned Gage’s words, my voice still thick from sleep. “I can think of at least one other thing that would probably piss you off even more than just watching me sleep with her.”

I finally peeked my eyes open to see him standing on the side of the bed, his eyes glued to my hand as I dipped my fingers beneath her skirt. A vein above his eye throbbed as he stood rigidly. I gave it seconds before he lost it.

“Jace,” Rynn hissed as her fingers wrapped around my wrist, stopping me from going any farther. “Now’s not the time for a pissing match.”

“Apparently, he has no regard for his life,” Gage said tightly. “What a waste of my time to save his fucking ass last night.”

I tsked. “Acting like she’s yours again? You doing that is what got you trapped in the elevator last time. And she got pissed at you.”

“This is different,” he snarled. “Get your hand off her.”

I grinned at him, keeping my hand exactly where it was. I’d warned him when we were stuck in the elevator that I wasn’t going to stop. I wanted her, and seeing as she’d kept me from getting killed, she cared for me to some degree. Gage had kept me alive for her, so he wasn’t going to do anything to me now. Well, at least I knew he wouldn’t kill me anyway. Actually, I didn’t know that either. But if he did, he might as well get it over with now. Because I wasn’t going to leave her alone.

“You should really wait to test me until you can at least stand on your own,” Gage threatened. “Beating your ass would be too easy right now.”

“All I want to do is thank Rynn.” I lowered my head again and brushed my lips along her neck. “For saving me and all.”

“Actually, it was Gage who did that,” she responded, a note of teasing entering her voice. “Maybe you should thank him.”

“No,” I murmured. “It’s all you. Because he did it for you. If it was up to him, I wouldn’t be here right now.”

“Something I’m seriously fucking regretting,” Gage muttered.

Rynn’s hold on my wrist loosened, and I kept my gaze on Gage as I slipped my fingers under her skirt, not stopping until I grazed her pussy under her thong. She jerked against me, and Gage’s eyes darkened, his glare not leaving her face. He was nearly shaking but didn’t make a move toward me. Rynn hadn’t stopped me, and I had a feeling he really didn’t want to flip out like he had the night at the hotel. With how furious Rynn had been with him for letting his jealousy get in the way, I wondered if it would be enough for him to hold back now.

“This is your only warning,” Gage said, his voice deadly soft. “Get out. Or you’ll regret it.”

“I don’t take orders from you,” I replied casually, rubbing lazy circles on her clit. “If Rynn wants me to stop, I will. But I’m not hearing any complaints from her.”

Her back was still against my chest, so I couldn’t see her face, but she still hadn’t said a word. Her hips began rocking, making me grin as Gage stood completely still. Until he suddenly spun around and stormed out of the room.

“You should leave before he comes back,” Rynn mumbled, not moving, as I slipped a finger inside her.

“No.”
