I paused. “Me. They wanted to take me back to Pacific Point.”

He frowned. “Why?”

“I’m not completely sure,” I answered, running the conversation through my head again. It was about my brother. There was no doubt about that.

But what was so important for Hayes to try and drag me away with everything else going on?

Jaceand I were only in my room for a few minutes before Gage burst in. The wild rage in his eyes dimmed slightly when he saw me sitting safe and sound on the couch. He strode across the space, pulling me up and crashing his lips to mine, not caring that Jace was in the room. His kiss was frantic and deep. He was tasting me as if he’d been starved.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t with you,” he muttered, finally breaking the kiss. “Fuck. If I hadn’t gotten there, Hayes really would have taken you.”

“But he didn’t. You can’t be with me every second,” I told him. “Where were you?”

Jace was staring at us, his brow furrowed, and before Gage could answer, the door swung open again. A whirl of emotions tore through me when Kian stepped inside. His eyes locked on me, and he stared at me warily, not making a move to get closer.

A bitter taste filled my mouth, remembering how easily Kian had pushed me into Nick’s arms. He had been ready to give me to them. I’d known for months that he and Jace would choose their gangs over me, and I was fully expecting it. But actually doing it? That cut far deeper than I thought it would. Gage wrapped an arm around my waist, tugging me until my back was crushed against his chest.

His lips brushed my ear as he whispered, “He’s the reason I knew where you were. He texted me when his dad showed up.”

Shock rippled through me. “What?”

“I convinced my dad that I’d watch you until I can somehow get you off campus and away from him.” Kian glanced at Gage. “I can play that out for a couple of weeks before he gets impatient.”

“Yeah.” Gage sighed, sounding resigned. “Kind of hard to hate the asshole completely when he does things like making sure my girl is safe.”

“She’s not your girl,” Jace corrected him, standing from the couch.

Gage bristled, his hold on my waist tightening. “Try again.”

I rolled my eyes. “Gage—”

My words were lost when Jace gripped my chin and tilted my face up, stealing a kiss. His lips stayed on mine, even as Gage’s arms stayed around me, and I stood there in shock, not even kissing him back for a moment before desire gave in. Two seconds later, I was ripped away, with Gage already releasing me to go after Jace, who backed away with a smirk on his face.

“After this morning, I didn’t think you’d mind me touching her when I wanted.”

“I should have just left you cuffed to the bed,” Gage growled.

“Stop,” I ground out, lurching forward to get between them.

“What the fuck happened this morning?” Kian asked in disbelief.

“Rynn sat on my face while he watched.”

Jace’s words had Kian’s mouth dropping open, and Gage snickered, only staying where he was because my hands were on his chest.

“You forgot to add the part where you left with fucking blue balls,” Gage taunted. “How did it feel to be all trussed up while I fucked her?”

“That won’t happen again,” Jace snapped, real anger entering his gaze. “You’re lucky I can barely fucking walk right now, or that would have gone a completely different way.”

“Oh my fuck,” I muttered before raising my voice. “Everyone out.”

Gage went still, looking down at me when I pulled my hands off him. Jace opened his mouth, only to close it again before shaking his head. Kian was still standing near the door, confusion etched on his face.

“You think I’m leaving you alone after what just happened?” Gage questioned, his focus back on me instead of Jace.

“If all you’re going to do is fight, then yes,” I snapped. “It’s been a shit couple of days, and I’m not in the mood.”
