“A mating couple doesn’t solidify their bond here. They travel to one of the surrounding valleys where they can find privacy. Orcs haven’t spread very far into those areas yet. What would you say if I asked you to mate with me in the orc way?”

Chapter 7

Jarum

“Yes.” She grinned. “No holding back if you’re offering me what I’ve wanted for a long time.”

“Me too.” My mating heat rose inside me, as did my cock, but this wasn’t the right place. And my parents were expecting us.

“Will we walk from here?” Kassia asked, stepping back from me.

Orcs continued to pass on the path, all shooting her surprised looks. Humans rarely came here.

I put my arm around her, happy to show them that she was mine and not available for mating.

“Yes,” I said. “Once we reach the main city, we’ll ride to my home.”

“You still lived with your family before you came to the surface?”

We continued down the hill, Diesel looking around and pausing to pee wherever he could. A few of my fellow orcs scowled at the pet, but most stared at him in amazement.

“I did, but my home’s huge.”

“I assume you haven’t always been a Phys Ed teacher.”

“When I lived here, I worked for a company that did something similar to what humans call accounting. When I joined your world, I attended school for the education needed to teach. I took my first job at our high school.”

“You’ve done well. The kids love you.”

“It’s all about perspective, about engaging their interest in a unique way.”

“I agree. I love teaching social studies, giving students a chance to learn about other cultures and how we interact within our community. I hope to include a section on orcs soon. So far, your people have resisted sharing much.” She looked around. “Do you think it’s okay for me to use what I learn while I’m here?”

“I assume so, but you can ask someone at the embassy when we return to the surface.”

We reached the end of the path and paused on the main road encircling the city. A network of other stone-covered roads wove through the center with two larger tracks slicing through the center, making a cross.

I lifted my hand and whistled, and a large, four-legged, pot-bellied creature almost as tall as me trotted toward us.

“It looks like a pumpkin coach,” Kassia whispered, her eyes wide.

It came to a stop beside us, and Diesel started barking at the vestaloon pulling the coach.

A stomp of his hoof, and the vestaloon stormed toward Diesel.

I leaped between them, holding my arms out wide. “He doesn’t mean offense.”

The vestaloon snarled and glared at Diesel but didn’t try to get past me.

Kassia picked up Diesel. “Sorry.”

“It’s okay.” I opened the single door, gesturing for her to climb inside with her pet.

As she passed him, she peered in awe at the vestaloon who had tusks like the wooly mammoth I’d seen in textbooks, plus a thick, brown and white spotted leathery hide. A short, curly tail swished back and forth across its hindquarters.

“We’re riding in a carriage pulled by a pig?” she asked.

“Boar, please.” The vestaloon peered over its broad shoulder at her. “I’m not a pig. I’m a boar.”
